A loss, good food and some fill ins

June 28, 2012

A sad day for me today… Germany lost to Italy in the semi-finals of the Euro Cup 2012.

A good team, beat by a better one… I can’t deny that Italy played the better game today. It seemed to me that after the great showing of the German team the past few games, they just fell apart.

After the game, there was much sadness in the house. Here is Middle, utterly devasted that Germany lost. Especially, since she dressed for the occasion in her team jersey.

Now, there will be quiet again for two years (I go a little crazy during these tournaments!) until we start rooting for our teams (USA/Germany) during the next World Cup. Which will be held in Brazil in 2014!

To cheer us up after the sad ending of the game, hubby took us out for a nice sushi dinner… we had live scallop again and enjoyed it just as much as we did the first time last week.

Little One surprised us all by ordering a yakitori skewer of alligator which happens to be very good. She ate the whole thing!!!

Now I’m looking forward to a fun day spent with some lovely ladies… lunch and then some man eye candy at the movies. We’ll be checking out “Magic Mike”, don’t think the plot will be very important!!! 😉 I’ll let you know…

Oh, and before I forget… hubby ordered me a new toy. A laptop dock for my Android phone. It’s the coolest thing… I’ll share pictures as soon as I get it. So excited.

Geez, listen to me, getting excited and drooling over a piece of technology. What has the world come too? A few years ago, I could have cared less. Now all these new, shiny toys and apps make me go gaga!!!

He sure scored major points today! See, it’s the unexpected gifts that are the best!!!

So now, time for some fill in fun with Hilary of Feeling Beachie. She hosts the Follow Friday Four Fill in Fun hop where she gives us four statements with blanks to fill in on our own blogs. If you have any statements for her, please e-mail her and if she uses them you’ll be made co-host!!!

Here are this weeks statements:

1.       ____makes me laugh

2.       Sometimes____makes me sad

3.       My ___ looks ___ after ___

4.       When I hear ___ I ___

My answers:

1. My boy makes me laugh. Lately, he’s been able to make me laugh so much. I think, he’s taking after his father in that department!

2. Sometimes watching soccer makes me sad. As it did today. Not a good game… 🙁

3. My cat looks out the window after all the little lizards that cling to the screen and tease her!

4. When I hear my children’s laughter I feel good about myself and the world. It works wonders!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I’ll see you on Sunday with all my favorite Instagrams of the week!!! I’d love it if you shared yours and linked up with me.

Wow you guys have exquisite taste! I am so boring in comparison lol
I don’t get into sports but I can tell this one is important to you guys!
    Sorry your team lost 🙁

I don’t really get into sports, too much but I love watching soccer. It’s one of the only games I actually understand. 🙂

It is always tough when your team loses 🙁

I agree, nothing like hearing children laugh and it is double pleasure when it is your own children!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    • Susi June 29, 2012 at 9:55 am

Thanks, Lucy. You too. And yes, my children’s laughter is always the best!

Tough day for Germany. They played so well in the tournament. This is the shame of knockout rounds – sometimes the better team doesn’t win.

    • Susi June 29, 2012 at 9:54 am

That’s true. But Germany really didn’t play to their potential yesterday. But if they keep up the good work maybe in two years they can accomplish much in the World Cup 2014.

So sorry your team lost. But those games are fun to watch. I haven’t watched many but they are very exciting. Can’t imagine eating alligator. That would not be my choice. But as long as she enjoyed it, that is all that matters.

    • Susi June 29, 2012 at 10:50 pm

Alligator is really interesting and tastes like a mix between chicken and veal. Not bad at all. 🙂

  • Hilary June 30, 2012 at 6:37 am

Oh, poor middle… she looks so sad….
    I love how little likes aligator… I love little…..
the boy taking after his dad in the funny department – I love it! He already looks just like sweetheart!

    • Susi June 30, 2012 at 11:11 am

Yes, the boy most certainly is a twin, or should zi say clone version of his daddy. And Little is pretty amazing when it comes to eating new things, just like her big sister. Middle is also a very good actress and she can pout with the best of them. 🙂

My neighbor who is fresh off the boat from Italy was tickled all shades of red green and white….I won’t stop hearing about this for a long while.
At least he is freely giving up his homemade wine in celebration 🙂

    • Susi June 30, 2012 at 9:59 am

I can imagine. I would be tickled, black, red and gold if Germany had won. But it wasn’t meant to be… hopefully, next time!!!! 🙂

aw, poor thing. I imagine that’s exactly how Toronto Maple Leaf fans feel all the time. bwaahhh! (sorry, Canadian hockey humour.)
The Tour de France starts today, so I will be a “cycling” widow for the next 2 weeks. Honestly…I don’t see the appeal of watching men ride a bike. nice countryside though. But, more blogging time for
me since DH will be glued to TV.
I had alligator last time I was in Florida. Was actually really good. kinda like chewy chicken 🙂
can’t wait to see the new gadget!

    • Susi June 30, 2012 at 9:58 pm

I’m sure it is comparable to how you hockey fans feel. We used to watch the Tour de France religiously when we still lived in Germany. There used to be a few very good German bikers. Not so much anymore. Got the new gadget… so fun. Will take pictures and show it off. It’s a laptop dock for my phone. It basically turns my phone into a laptop/tablet!!!

  • Megan Broutian June 30, 2012 at 9:27 pm

    Awww! That cute tear-strikken face!
Also, I’m totally with you on the electronic-gadgets thing. Luckily for me, m husband is like-minded, like yours 🙂

    • Susi June 30, 2012 at 10:00 pm

Yes, I’m very lucky he’s like minded. I lay the blame for my obsessions firmly at his feet… his techy, gadgety ways have rubbed off on me!!! 😉

[…] I also didn’t include the pitiful one of my Middle daughter who was utterly devastated by the loss of the semi-final game for the German team. I shared that one in my Friday post! […]
