Some blanks to fill in…

August 2, 2012

Friday again. This one is pretty special. I have two very excited girls on my hand that are ready to see their Omi for the weekend. We are heading out for a girls’ weekend with my mom and leaving the boys home. Little One and I will return home on Sunday but Middle is staying for a few extra days to have her Omi all to herself!

Now, it’s time to fill in some blanks with Hilary.

Each week, Hilary of Feeling Beachie plans on listing four statements with a blank for us to fill in on your own blogs. If you want to join the fun and come up with four fill in’s of your own, please email them to her at feelingbeachie@gmail.com. If she uses them, she will add you as co-host to the hop! This week’s co-host is Jen from what would jen do (she came up with the last two statements)

She would LOVE it if you could please help her spread the word about this hop…. So, please tweet, FaceBook share, and add the linky to your post…

This week’s statements:

  1. I have no desire ___
  2. I love the smell of ___because____
  3. I wish that my ___________ would magically_________
  4. In one month I ____________

My answers:

1. I have no desire to send my children back to school at the end of the month. I like having them home and enjoying our summer… no schedules, early mornings, and cranky kids.

2. I love the smell of fresh cut grass because it’s so clean and well, fresh and also slightly sweet. It also brings back childhood memories watching my grandma cut the long grass in our meadow with a sickle.

3. I wish that my sister would live closer and not all the way across the Atlantic ocean in Germany. I miss her and my niece.

4. In one month I will be back to being an early riser and resume my wake up time of about 6:30 AM. UGH!!!

Yes cut grass is a very refreshing smell except for those with allergies which thankfully I am not one of :]

No desire to send your kids back to school. That’s pretty cool. My mom couldn’t wait for the end of summer. I guess my brother and I were a handful 🙂

Oh, don’t get me wrong… my kids have their moments but all in all this is bliss!

the smell of grass makes me sad – reminds me of my dad….

The smell of fresh cut grass is always refreshing! Too bad I haven’t smelled it for the past couple of months – it’s been so dry I haven’t had to mow.

    • Susi August 4, 2012 at 10:19 am

We don’t have that problem here… rain season and all!!! 🙂

  • Brenda August 3, 2012 at 10:58 am

You know it is so funny… I have not had little ones at home for a very long time, but your desire not to have cranky kids in the morning rings so true and I still remember all those fights…. OR worse… the homework fights!

    • Susi August 4, 2012 at 10:19 am

Yes, and yes… it’s no fun. Oh well, but it’s life!!!

I use to enjoy the summer with my kids but we were always ready for school, even the kids, they liked the routine and schedule BUT I can totally understand NOT wanting to get up at 6:30am, that is yucky!

    • Susi August 4, 2012 at 10:18 am

You know, my Middle is ready to go back now… she loves her new school and had a fantastic year last year.

I’m not in a rush to send my son off to school, and he’s in no rush to go either. I got to smell fresh cut grass this morning – we finished up just in time, too, before the thunderstorm that’s in progress! Have a blessed weekend.

    • Susi August 4, 2012 at 10:17 am

Ugh, afternoon thunderstorms. I drove through a doozy yesterday… hail and all. I was terrified!

My kids started school yesterday (yay AZ!) and so far, it’s been great. But I know that in another month, they are going to be begging for five more minutes every morning.

    • Susi August 4, 2012 at 10:17 am

I’m so amazed that school already started for you guys… I was always saying it seemed so early here when we used to go back middle of August. Now it’s end of August.

I love the smell of fresh cut grass too, reminds me of spring!
My BFF calls her paternal grandparents Omi (great-grandma was Oma) and Opa, they are from Germany. They are/were amazing people, Opa passed away a couple years back. Hearing you say Omi made me miss them and remember the fun times we had at their house in Vermont.

    • Susi August 4, 2012 at 10:15 am

This is so sweet. My mom and I were smiling reading this. 🙂

I also dread the return of school. We are on ‘summer hours’ where we have no stress about time at all. We’ve been so lucky to sleep in late and wake up whenever. So I’m not looking forward to waking up school time! =)

    • Susi August 4, 2012 at 10:14 am

Same here. I just enjoy not having all the school stress…

I agree with you on both. Had a great time at my mom’s!

I have to resume to our school schedule starting next week! I wish they’ll move it to September but school starts next week!

    • Susi August 5, 2012 at 11:51 pm

It’s so early! But it is what it is.
