Picture Perfect Weekly #30 {Thanksgiving Edition}

November 24, 2012

I love to share photos and I love Instagram. I was one happy little blogger when Instagram became available on Android devices. I jumped, no leaped, on that particular social media bandwagon and have developed a new love affair/addiction with it. Because of this love affair I have decided to start my very own weekly link up called… Picture Perfect Weekly!!!
I would love it if you would join me and share the treasures you captured with Instagram/phone camera/any other camera during the past week. I see a lot of fantastic, cute, funny and happy moments every day.

Share just one or many of your pictures and add a small description.

Just paste the badge into your post or sidebar and follow me… quick and simple. You can find me on Facebook, Twitter and of course, Instagram!

I look forward to seeing your treasured moments!!!

Here are some of mine.

Our Thanksgiving table set by yours truly. I do enjoy setting a pretty table. I often wish I had fancier dishes or fancy cloth napkins with napkin rings but in the end it’s the family that sits around the table that matters, not what the food is served on!

Little One really, really enjoyed the turkey legs. She had both and one of the wings!!!

Our desserts — a pumpkin bundt cake made from a recipe by EatpicksΒ (Thanks, Kelly!)Β and my sister made the key lime pie.

We had plenty of leftovers, especially turkey. So I made two turkey pot pies.

We ate the turkey pot pie on our Christmas dishes. They come out the day after Thanksgiving every year and I love to use them. They make me smile and my heart happy!

And turkey soup. This one was a team effort… hubby started it and I finished it. It was great for dinner but can’t wait to try it for lunch tomorrow after sitting overnight!

Another thing we do the day/weekend after Thanksgiving is put out all our Christmas decorations (and our menorahs, as well). I always love this little area with the stockings and the two Christmas bears.

Ta da… our Christmas tree. We actually got an artificial, pre-lit tree this year. I do love getting a real tree but I hate the mess and having to water it. Also, I could never wait to let the branches fall properly before decorating. Middle did find these awesome little stick ornaments you can hide in the tree and they make it smell just like a real one… it really works! πŸ™‚

Last but not least, a little hot chocolate treat with Pfeffernüße. Best enjoyed while sitting by the lit tree and listen to some Christmas tunes!

I added this shot of vultures flying over our neighborhood to make it ten so I can link up with Stasha for Monday Listicles!!! πŸ™‚

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving day and weekend.

xo, Susi

You made some beautiful food! Not that I ever want to see turkey again…until next year. πŸ˜‰

    • Susi November 25, 2012 at 11:15 pm

Yeah, I’m about all turkeyed out for a while. πŸ™‚

  • Darcie November 25, 2012 at 9:53 pm

All of that good food has made me hungry! I love your Christmas tree! We are keeping it real again this year. The kids put up such a fuss about purchasing fake tree that I decided to hold off another year.

    • Susi November 25, 2012 at 11:14 pm

Darcie, my kids put up a fuss too but now that it’s all set up and pretty looking they are very happy with it. πŸ™‚

  • Runnermom-jen November 25, 2012 at 11:01 pm

I love this idea, Susi…and I too love Instagram (as I’m sure you know).

    Your tree is gorgeous!!

    • Susi November 25, 2012 at 11:10 pm

Thanks, Jen — on both counts. Guess you could say we are two peas in a pod with our IG love!!! πŸ˜‰ Thanks for linking up.

  • Rorybore November 25, 2012 at 11:54 pm

everything looks so great!! the table, the food, The Soup!….and your tree is lovely. December 1st is usually my day to start decorating. But we have to wait another week for the tree because we do get a real one. I bought a scented candle to tide me over till then! LOL

    • Susi November 26, 2012 at 11:21 pm

Thank you, Rory. I’m kinda glad we got a fake one this year because Thanksgiving was so early this year and our tradition has always been to get the tree on Friday after Thanksgiving! Plus, I really love it. Can’t stop looking at it. πŸ™‚

Looks like you are off to a wonderful start of the holiday season! Enjoy

    • Susi November 26, 2012 at 11:18 pm

Yes, we are. I love this time of year… all the decorations are up and fresh and I love the lights twinkling on the tree. πŸ™‚

  • Liz @ A Nut in a Nutshell November 26, 2012 at 4:43 am

I am going to have to look for those little tree-smelling ornaments you mentioned. Yours is lit so beautifully. I have a pre-lit tree as well. Sooooo much easier!

    • Susi November 26, 2012 at 11:17 pm

Liz, I’m going to dig out the container and take a picture of that and the ornament sticks and then I will post it either here or on FB!!! So keep a look out! πŸ˜‰

  • Sandra November 26, 2012 at 11:07 am

Fabulous photos of your holiday spirit, Susi! Love your table settings, and all that yummy food looks absolutely delicious! And the glow of lights from your tree? Simply, stunning. I’m trying to get into the holiday spirit myself–with such a long to-do list, it’s a bit hard. Maybe I will be better once this #NaBloPoMo ends and get my sanity back? And maybe I’ll be able to link up on Picture Perfect Sundays again! I shall be bbbbback!

    • Susi November 26, 2012 at 11:15 pm

You are doing a fabulous job at NaBloPoMo… I could never live with that kind of pressure! You almost made it it too!!! Woohoo. Can’t wait for you to link up again.

  • Janice November 27, 2012 at 3:19 am

I love your decorations. It all looks so cozy! I wish I could decorate around here, but we are in the process of clearing stuff out and leaving just the bare necessities because….well, we are planning to sell our condo son we can upgrade to a house! Whoohoo, right? But hubs said I can’t decorate until after we’ve got a buyer. Boo. I want decorations!

    • Susi November 27, 2012 at 12:48 pm

Janice, I feel your pain but there is a silver lining isn’t there. Just think of what you can do once you have a house. Good luck!!! πŸ™‚

  • Kerry November 27, 2012 at 3:52 am

Your table settings, the decor, the yummy food and the beautiful Christmas tree, I love it all! So glad you had a great Thanksgiving Susi πŸ™‚

    • Susi November 27, 2012 at 12:47 pm

      Thanks so much Kerry. πŸ™‚

  • Stacie @ Snaps and Bits November 27, 2012 at 7:50 am

Wow you were fast on the Christmas decorating! It’s still sitting on my list of things to do. I love the collage of your daughter too.

    • Susi November 27, 2012 at 12:46 pm

Stacie, I always get the decorations out the weekend after Thanksgiving. It’s one of my favorite things to do and has just become a tradition in our house. We all look forward to it! πŸ™‚

  • Jackie November 27, 2012 at 9:15 am

I just made turkey pot pie last night with some leftover turkey & gravy. Silly me, I forgot we had leftover carrots & corn, and so guess what’s for dinner on Thursday?!?
    I love your holiday decorations!

    • Susi November 27, 2012 at 12:45 pm

Ha ha ha. I think, after this week is over no one wants to see leftovers for a while!!! πŸ™‚

  • Missy | The Literal Mom November 27, 2012 at 10:31 am

Love these. I’m still getting the hang of Instagram, but did do a lot with it this past week. Like everything, you get out of it what you put into it, right?

    • Susi November 27, 2012 at 12:45 pm

I am following you now on IG. You took some super cute shots already. πŸ™‚

  • Ducky November 27, 2012 at 12:05 pm

Absolutely LOVE the tree! We got ours up this year and added a second one. Christmas is a HUGE holiday in our house. Your Thanksgiving looked almost too yummy to dig into!

    • Susi November 27, 2012 at 12:43 pm

Thanks, Ducky. I always have a small tree in the family room and the big one in the front living room! πŸ™‚

  • Rach (DonutsMama) November 27, 2012 at 10:55 pm

All that food looks so good! And your tree is so pretty.

    • Susi November 27, 2012 at 11:14 pm

Thanks, Rach. I’m glad most of the food is gone now. You know, how they say… too much of a good thing??? πŸ™‚
