Picture Perfect Weekly #1 {A Day On The Water}

January 6, 2013

I love to share photos and I love Instagram. I was one happy little blogger when Instagram became available on Android devices. I jumped, no leaped, on that particular social media bandwagon and have developed a love affair/addiction with it. That has not changed with the beginning of the new year. 2013 here I come!

Won’t you please join me once a week by sharing your favorite pictures from your phone and Instagram?

It’s easy – share just one or many of your favorite shots from the week with a small description and link up your post.

Please, paste the badge into your post or sidebar.

You can find me on Facebook, Twitter and of course, Instagram!

I look forward to seeing your treasured moments!!!

Here we are again. After taking last week off to enjoy some family time for New Year’s I’m back for the first Picture Perfect Weekly  post of 2013.

We’ve had quite the busy week working on the house. Not only did I put all the Christmas decorations and tree away, we also decided to rearrange some furniture and move the family room into the living room and make the family room into an office/music room. Of course, one thing led to another and things snowballed… this shelf had to be moved to this room and that one to the other room etc. We are still not finished. Now we are looking for some new shelves, wall sconces/cubes and also a new couch. Once everything is more in order I’d be happy to share some pics with you guys.

This morning dawned bright and clear and we thought we were in for a relaxing day at home. But plans have a way of changing. So, instead of spending the day sitting around at home we unexpectedly ended up spending it on the water instead.

1-6 Intracoastal

My father in law called in the morning and invited us to come along for a ride on his boat. We went south on the Intracoastal to a waterfront restaurant (for lunch) where you can dock the boat and back again. It was an absolute gorgeous Winter day in South Florida with the sun shining brightly and the breeze blowing gently.

1-6 Middle on boat

Here’s Middle right after we got on the boat. Besides the five of us, hubby’s aunt and her husband, as well as my FIL and his wife and her niece and nephew who are visiting from Brazil, were on the boat. Oh, and of course the captain who got us safely  to the restaurant and back.

1-6 Lake Boca

This is an area of the Intracoastal called Lake Boca where the weekend warriors anchor their boats and hang out. Kids were swimming in inner tubes or tooling around on wave runners and people were soaking up the sun. Today was one of those days where it hit me again how lucky I am to live here in beautiful South Florida.

1-6 Middle and I

Middle and I. I was busy as usual taking a million pics (which I will share soon) but stopped to ask my MIL for a pic with me in it. You know, for proof I was there too! 🙂

1-6 family pic

This is actually the first Instagram pic of the year. My mom took it for us before we headed home on New Year’s Day. It’s not perfect, but neither are we. It is family though, and that’s what matters.

1-6 hubby and I

Hubby and I on our first date night of the year. Yay for us. Thanks to our awesome babysitter we had a wonderful dinner out all by ourselves at out favorite Japanese restaurant. Sake, anyone?

1-6 waffle iron

And tonight, I made these. As a treat for the last night of the Winter break. I was sneaky and used whole wheat flour (half and half) in the batch and the kids were none the wiser and enjoyed their seconds before hubby gave away my secret! I also served them with strawberries.

So, how was your first week of the new year? Anything exciting to share? I’d love to see what you did.

I would love to go out on the boat! Good luck getting the rest of the house in order. It does snowball and projects just keep popping up

Thanks. It’s getting there but it’ll always be a work in progress. And yes, I want to go out on the boat again soon. Loved it.

Rory, I do enjoy a pretty picture of snow but I’m glad, I don’t have to deal with it. I never imagined I would love living without it so much. 🙂

I am envious of your beautiful weather. Great pictures!

Love, love LOVE the photos of the water and sun. It’s so nice to see the sun (even if only in a photo) during our crazy Ohio winters. Although I have to say, we have so far (even with the snow) managed more sunshine then normal in the cold north!

I’m so glad you are getting some sunshine. I remember how weary you get after so much gloom. I really don’t miss it.
