Q and A – old school blogging

March 11, 2013

Last week, as I was skimming over my Facebook news feed I saw this post by ThetaMom and intrigued I clicked on it and decided to join. I have always enjoyed the q&a type posts, especially when I can’t figure out what to blog about.

So, for today’s post I’ll be going old school with Heather at ThetaMom and Elaine at The Miss Elaine-ous Life and answer these 8 questions.

There’s still some time to play along if you’d like to join the fun!!!

1. What were you doing 10 years ago?

Ten years ago at this time I was pregnant with my second child – middle daughter – and in the midst of preparing for her baby shower and arrival. I was also soaking up all the little moments with my 2 1/2 year old son. I remember it being such a fun age and he was such a happy little toddler, except the time I caught him with black magic marker drawing murals on all my kitchen counters and the walls. 🙂

2. What 5 things are on your to-do list?

It’s Monday morning and my to-do list has most of the usual things on it for the beginning of the week.

  • laundry
  • sweep and mop the floors
  • finish packing for my son’s first overnight school trip
  • grocery shopping
  • edit some photographs and other blogging related things (That list is a mile long!)

3. What are 5 snacks you enjoy?

  1. kettle corn
  2. Müller yogurt
  3. Kind bars
  4. hummus and pita chips
  5. Ferrero eggs (these are totally addicting and I have to hold myself back from eating the whole bag in one sitting)

4. Name some things you would do if you were a millionaire:

If I was a millionaire, I would pay of all outstanding debt, buy a new car for hubby, myself and my mom, either re-do or buy a new house, go to Germany to finally visit my grandma’s grave and “say” good-bye, put money aside for the children’s college funds and give BethAnn money for her comments for a cause each month and help out other charities, like the humane society, Susan G. Komen etc.

5. Name some places you have lived:

I have lived in:

6. Name some bad habits you have:

I’m forever picking on scabs. Instead of leaving it alone, I constantly have to pick away at it and it takes forever to heal. I also bite my nails (not as bad as I used to). I’m a bit of a neat-freak and drive my family up the wall about picking up after themselves. I also tend to just do things myself instead of letting the kids or husband do it because I think, my way is the best way.

7. Name some jobs you have had:

  1. waitress at my parents restaurant
  2. 3rd key at a retail store
  3. CSR (at my FIL company where I met my husband)
  4. preschool teacher

8. Name those you are tagging for #OSBlog:

BethAnn, Brenda, Tami, Rorybore, and Nicole.

Fun posts, I love Q & A’s, it’s a fun way to get to know each other. I should do this…. By the way, I just read the post on your hubby’s blog about how you met. He’s a great writer and it was a great story. 🙂

Thanks, Nanci. I’ve been telling him that for ages. He’s finally getting into the swing of things a bit more and writes much more regularly. 🙂

Humus and pita chips are my fav. I could live off of those.

    • Susi March 11, 2013 at 5:31 pm

I love them too but I’m usually too late to the party and my boys will have devoured them already!!!

  • Rorybore March 11, 2013 at 4:38 pm

great idea. I actually haven’t done one of these for a long time, so I think it’s perfect timing.
love learning more about blogging family this way.
Always learn new things….like now, I must know what kettle corn is. it sounds amazing. LOL
waitress is definitely on my resume too. I used to hate it some times, now I look back and think Why? you got to talk to people all day/night long. you LOVE to talk. haha

    • Susi March 11, 2013 at 5:30 pm

I saw it and wanted to do it right away. Its fun and I like that I get to check out some new to me bloggers. I really only hated the waitressing job because I worked with my parents – and you know what they say about working with family??? 🙂

    Greta post!
You were a preschool teacher? Wow, I would not have the nerve or patience for that!

    • Susi March 11, 2013 at 10:13 pm

Yes, I was and may be again. I do like the little ones, especially the 4 and 5 year olds. It’s amazing to see them learn and grow. 🙂

  • Beth Ann Chiles March 11, 2013 at 7:22 pm

Awesome idea for a post!!! I will do mine soon!!! Loved finding out more about you!!! Stop picking those scabs!!! My sister had a friend in high school who had an actual scab collection…no joke. Have you gone that far???

    • Susi March 11, 2013 at 10:12 pm

No, no scab collection. I’m not that bad!!! 🙂

  • TBM March 12, 2013 at 4:31 am

Currently I’m addicted to hummus and carrots. Best snack ever. maybe I should pick up some pita chips.

    • Susi March 12, 2013 at 9:59 am

Carrots or celery and hummus are yummy. We get these thin baked pit chips called Stacie’s Simply Naked – so, so good.

  • Katie E March 12, 2013 at 6:56 am

I’m sure your way is the best way 🙂 Kettle corn is one of my favorite snacks too!

    • Susi March 12, 2013 at 9:53 am

Katie, so speaks a mom who knows what she’s talking about!!! 😉 And yay, for kettle corn.

  • Kimberly March 12, 2013 at 7:10 am

I love this. 10 years ago I was getting ready to get married! Eeks. I love that you have moved around. Not me. Still in the same old same old spot. You get kind of comfortable ya know?
What are kind bars? Actually, I don’t know any of those treats except for the hummus and kettle corn. Man I’m not cultured LOL

    • Susi March 12, 2013 at 9:52 am

Kimberly, I haven’t moved as much as it seems and I’ve been here in Boca for the past 13 years and 11 of those in the same house. In a way it’s comforting! Kind bars are awesome… I’m getting ready to start a five friday faves type post and they will be in it with an explanation! Stay tuned! 🙂

  • Lady Jennie March 12, 2013 at 1:59 pm

I read someone else that lived in Germany too. Another list person. But they are not a Frau. 😉 You had a headstart on me with the kids – my first was not until 04.

And I keep racking my brains to remember what kettle corn is. The name is familiar but I can’t think!

    • Susi March 12, 2013 at 9:21 pm

Lady Jennie, thanks for stopping by. I think, you are talking about Kerstin at Auer Life who is from Germany but lives in Canada! Kettle corn is a slightly sweet, slightly salty type of popcorn that’s usually cooked in a big kettle and sold at fairs. It is so good and so addicting!!! 🙂
