Fun in the sun and surf

March 24, 2013

Our Spring Break was off to a great start on Saturday as we got to spent the day taking a boat ride along the Intracoastal to a waterfront restaurant.

It’s such a novelty to arrive at a restaurant by boat instead of car. One, that I hope to always find just a bit exciting.

Along the way we admired the boats out on the water, people enjoying the beautiful day to lounge in chairs soaking up the rays or floating in the warm waters of the Intracoastal.

A few lucky snaps of the pelicans that are abundant here in South Florida this time of year.

And also an extraordinarily large gecko that I happened to glimpse from the parked car.

Boat ride and lunch behind us we got to play for a bit on the beach and in the surf.

Little one was busy digging in the sand, carrying water in her bucket to and fro and running in and out of the waves.

The big kids preferred to wait for just the right wave to try to jump over it. They leaped and jumped and swam like dolphins.

It was hard to tear them away at the end of the day.

The sun and breeze beckoned us all to just sit and enjoy and relax.

How lucky are we to live here and enjoy this beauty day in and day out?

Not going to lie…pelicans scare me.
Looks like a wonderful time. Send that weather up here!

    • Susi March 25, 2013 at 6:56 pm

Kimberly, I’ll try to send up some sunshine! I wouldn’t want to be too close to a pelican either – thank goodness for zoom lenses!!! πŸ™‚

You are MOST lucky my friend.
although, Monkey Boy…totally dove over a snow bank this morning. he seemed to enjoy it. LOL

it is rather cool arriving at a restaurant by boat isn’t it? ha I grew up on Lake Ontario so that was a frequent occurrence in the summer months. and many people would come over from New York State via boat and use the marina along our downtown waterfront. shops, bars, restaurants, hotels….all steps away.

    • Susi March 25, 2013 at 6:53 pm

I remember diving in snowbanks once – a long, long time ago. Even living in Florida and being fairly close to the water it’s not all that normal for us to take a boat to a restaurant! πŸ™‚

Very pretty pictures! Todd and Zach were visiting Full Sail Collage over the weekend. The hotel lost it’s electricity for half of a day due to storms. Anywhere near you?

    • Susi March 26, 2013 at 6:19 pm

Tami, we got lucky. The really bad weather seemed to hit around Orlando… they had hail and tornadoes. It’s been pretty windy and cool here but nothing as extreme as that.

You are so very lucky and I am so very jealous. πŸ™‚

Alison, I try very hard to always appreciate what I have in my backyard, truly. I feel lucky. πŸ™‚
