Leaving on a jet plane…

April 12, 2013

I’m pretty late to the party tonight but I have a very good excuse!

My girls and I, drove to my mom’s house yesterday to pick her up and bring her over here to the airport in Miami.

She’s leaving for Germany tomorrow for two weeks. You guys have no idea how much I want to hide myself in her suitcase and go with her.

There’s going to be so much celebrating going on — my aunt’s birthday, my aunt and uncle’s 25th wedding anniversary and my niece’s 2nd birthday!

So, yeah, a little homesick right now but I’ll be okay.

Anyways, let’s get to it and join Hilary for some fill in fun.

This week’s statements:

1. I don’t like to ____
2. I love to ___ in the morning
3. If I could change one thing in my life it would be _______
4. If I was better at _____, I would _____

My answers:

1. I don’t like to  clean our bathrooms, especially scrubbing toilets.

2. I love to sit and enjoy my first cup of coffee in peace and quiet in the morning.

3. If I could change one thing in my life it would be living closer to my mom so I could drop by for a quick cup of coffee now and then.

4. If I was better at photography, I would work as a photographer.

How nice that you are seeing your mom before she goes on her trip. Hopefully you do get a chance for a quiet cup of coffee together before she leaves. sounds like she is going to have a busy and fun trip!
I’m at my mom’s right now.
except instead of coffee….there’s wine. and fondant. and cookie cutters.
hopefully this all ends well, ha

Leslie, it was nice that we got to see each other before she left. We did have coffee and some wine too (her) I had my nightly tea. Enjoy the time with your mom!!! xoxo

Hilary, I can imagine you’d like to be closer to your mom. Hopefully, one day soon you’ll get to enjoy the Florida sunshine with her everyday and not just for vacation! 🙂

Whoa that sounds super busy but super awesome. I think that spending time with family like that is well worth all the frazzle. I’m sad that you can’t go with her though 🙁
I hate…hate toilets. Especially since my 4 year old has the worst aim. Did you know that pee can solidify? It sure can. It collects under the bolts for the seat. I have to remove the entire seat to clean it. Sick.

Um, yeah, with two guys in the house, I have seen the phenomenon of chrystalized pee on the toilet rim. Not fun. I’m a little sad we couldn’t go with her either but it is what it is.

It is wonderful to be able to spend time with family, isn’t it? The one thing I miss the most is being able to do that like we did when the boys were little and we lived a bit closer to everyone. You are a great photographer and I see that in your future—-you have learned so much and are always trying new things. If you want it I think you can make it happen! Believe in yourself!!! 🙂

Thank you, Beth Ann. You don’t know how much your words mean to me! xoxo

Makes me sad to think of your mom leaving, like it was happening to me… have to remember mine lives only 20 miles away though I don’t get to see her at all. Calling her now LOL

    • Susi April 14, 2013 at 10:00 am

Gosh, if my mom lived only 20 miles away, we would have weekly coffee and dinner dates for sure. That’s what my mom and grandma did while I was growing up and I so want that!!! And she’ll only be gone for about two weeks and then she’ll be back home (2 1/2 hours away from us)!!! 🙂

I thought I commented on this but don’t see it so I’ll comment again. I can hear in your words how badly you would like to go with your mom. Any chance you are going back for a visit anytime soon? I love your fill-ins. If I could change one thing in my life it would be that I be more organized or a neat freak. I don’t like to clean the house which is why I need to change that. 🙂

    • Susi April 15, 2013 at 7:05 pm

Ann Marie, not anytime soon but we have talked about going – hopefully – next year. We’ll see… I’d rather not be such a neat freak!!! It’s a pain in the butt. 🙂

I’ve never been to Germany but I would also like to hide in your mom’s suitcase and go with you. Would love to visit another country.

    • Susi April 17, 2013 at 5:03 pm

I’m biased but I do love Germany and want to go back eventually to roam around Berlin and follow my husband around Hamburg, Kiel and other northern cities that I haven’t been too. 🙂

I wish I could hide in her luggage as well. I hope she has a lovely trip. And yes, I hate scrubbing the toilet. Hate it.

They have very reasonable flights from Stanstead to Berlin!!! 🙂
