Nurture Photography Challenge {Spring} – Green/Nature

April 22, 2013

Where last week, I had some trouble figuring out just what to do with the weekly photography challenge prompt, this week I had an overload of ideas. I want to apologize in advance for the multitude of images but I just couldn’t decide which ones to choose.

I live in suburbia. Manicured lawns, walking paths, lake shores. And grass, lots and lots of green grass for our little pooch, Gracie, to run in.DSC_0396

There are lots of interesting birds that are native to Florida and with the help of my new zoom lens I’m able to get some decent shots. Like this one.DSC_0909

A canopy of lush, green trees to provide shade when we sit by the lake and fish.P1030671

And another bird — an egret that has been elusive and hard for me to get a good photograph of. DSC_0791

What type of Floridian would I be, without sharing a palm tree or parts there of?Β DSC_0820

I am fascinated by nature, by the fact that in the middle of suburbia, there are always interesting things to see. We are surrounded by birds, lush vegetation and plenty of fish in the lakes. Just this morning, I saw an otter have a fishy snack on the lake shore. Our neighborhood is very close to the Everglades, that swampy area of wetlands that many a native Florida creature calls home. It is not unusual to see an alligator in one of the neighborhood lakes from time to time.

I love where I live and the things I get to see and capture with my camera.

Please, join Kristi, Alicia and Rebecca!!!

I want to roll in that grass.
I love the dog picture. You did a great job. Are in for this weeks challenge? I’m finding it hard since we have no flowers…boo.

Definitely, doing the next challenge too — really trying to stick with it this time. Already thinking of ideas! πŸ™‚

Love the photos. Except for the palm tree. What the heck is that??? I’ve never seen those things growing on a palm tree! (LOL)

But I do envy all the green around you. Oh. And all the blue. But I don’t like the humidity. I remember that when I was there a looooong time ago. πŸ˜‰

I’m glad you’re joining in on the photo challenge. I love seeing your photos!

Thanks, Janice. The big green things are new leaves ready to unfurl and the other things are berries. Not sure what they do except make a mess when they fall off. We have many different types of palm trees here, not all of them native. And yes, it does get crazy humid during the summer… we are used to it now, I guess. πŸ™‚

Jennifer, I live so close to the Everglades and our community is dotted with lakes where wild life roams.
