My Claim to Fame {Old School Blogging – The Pop Culture Edition}

May 14, 2013

I love this Old School Blogging link up so much! Especially right now. I have so much stuff swarming around in my head and I don’t quite know where to start or what to write about… This gives me some direction and a few (easy) questions to answer.

Please, join our hostesses Elaine and Loukia for this month’s edition of Old School Blogging! All things Pop Culture!

1.  What was one of your favorite shows as a kid?  Why?

This one is a bit tough to answer, as I grew up in Germany and most shows were quite a bit different than what was on television here. One of my earliest memories of a kids show would be our nightly “good night” show called “Der Sandmann”. We watched it every night and knew that as soon as the show was over, it was bed time. There was no arguing – we ate dinner, put our pj’s on and sat down in front of the TV to watch the show and then, off to bed we went. Later on, I remember watching “Beverly Hills 90210” – it was always on Saturday nights and I can remember many times, I would get ready to go out to our local disco, my friends would come over, we would watch the show and then go out dancing.

2. Which actress(es) do you see on the red carpet and kinda wish you could be for a day (or three)?

I admire Sandra Bullock. I have always enjoyed her as an actress and think she has a very effortless style and natural beauty. I still remember her in “Speed” – I think, that was the first movie I became aware of her as an actress. I also rather liked the very tenuous connection we have – her mother is a German born opera singer. She even spoke in German during one of her acceptance speeches for an award she won. (This is her accepting a German acting award called the Bambi, I couldn’t find the one I was actually looking for.) I thought that was so cool! 🙂

3.  Which actor do you wish you could, um… hang out with? 😉

Going from Sandra Bullock in “Speed” to non other than her co-star Keanu Reeves! Same goes, I became aware of him by watching this movie and to this day have a (not so) secret crush on him. He’s just dreamy and hello? – Neo, anyone?

4. What is one (or two or some) of your favorite movies that you have seen in the last few year?

This Twihard will of course have to go with The Twilight Saga films – I have a hard time deciding which one out of the 5 is my favorite but I think, I’ll have to go with Breaking Dawn Pt.1 – the wedding, the honeymoon, the pregnancy and then the birth – yeah, I think that one tops the list. I’ve also enjoyed The Hunger Games and can’t wait for November to see Catching Fire. Iron Man, Thor and Captain America are favorites too. I’ve also quite enjoyed The Kings Speech.

5. Who is one celebrity out there now that you could totally do without? That you wish would just disappear?

First one that pops into my mind – Kim Kardashian. Is she truly a celebrity though?

6. Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who? What did you say/do when you met them?

Yes, yes I have. I met Woody Harrelson (and have the pictures to prove it somewhere in an old photo album) when he shot the movie Palmetto in Ft. Myers, years and years ago. The movie, from what I can remember, was not very well received. But, I can say that once upon a time I got to shake hands and get an autograph from “Haymitch”!

7.  Which shows do you look forward to watching every week?

I don’t really watch regular TV anymore since we switched to Netflix (without looking back)… I have been watching Revenge, Scandal, Once Upon A Time – the full seasons available, without commercial interruptions – it’s awesome. A new favorite as of a few days ago – My Name is Earl. It’s pretty hilarious.

Oh, I watched Das Sandmännchen and Beverly Hills 90210 too. I even had a poster of Dylan McKay on my door when I was a kid. 🙂
And Kim Kardashian really is annoying. I can’t stand her!

I think, he’s just been enjoying his life out of the spotlight. He’s had some sad things happen to him in life. His girlfriend/wife had a baby that was stillborn. I haven’t really checked if he’s in any new movies. And, I won’t tell anyone, promise… 🙂

Oh dear….here comes the fangirling. I’m so sorry….all over your blog too. LOL
Keanu is Canadian too. Love him. So.

I’ve met a ton of hockey players…do they count as celebrities? even if it is Wayne Gretzky?
But I’ve also met Dan Aykroyd too — he’s from my hometown. He’s just Dan to us. see him all the time.
Just saw Iron Man 3 the other night. was pretty good. Love RDJ playing Tony Stark. it’s perfection.

We have started watching more Netflicks too: thus I also have Once Upon a Time and of course, cannot wait until The Walking Dead returns!!! Ugh. October is so far away.
to get me over the dry spell, gonna start Game of Thrones next.

Alison, I’m not sure what he is up to these days. He’s been kinda quiet. Not sure how old he is now, either. I think, I need to spend sometime with Mr. Google!!! 🙂
