Football Uniforms and Fluffy Socks

May 16, 2013

Random thoughts:

~ Tonight, I did something, I never thought I would ever too – I washed a football uniform. An American football uniform. And as proud and happy as I am for my boy, my German heart cries just a bit that it’s not a soccer uniform. I still hold out some hope that he’ll give it a try.

I have mixed feelings about the football thing to begin with. My heart bursts with pride when I see him in his uniform, on the field with his team mates, practicing. But I’m also scared. Scared for his safety and worried about possible injury.

So far, he really seems to enjoy himself and I’m happy about that. We have never pushed the kids into any sports, never dragged them from one activity to the next.  He’s the one that chose to sign up which I think, is great. We’ll see how it goes… Wish me luck and send some chocolate, please!

~ I also got a new “toy” today. A Hoover Windtunnel Air vacuum cleaner. I don’t know why I’m still so amazed what a difference a new vacuum makes. I was so happy with the way it worked that I (with a little help from little sister) vacuumed everything in sight.

I don’t think, I’ve ever owned a Hoover before – I’ve always been a Bissell girl. But after taking a few models for a test drive at Target today and realizing that this one was on sale, we bought it. I’m a happy customer.

~ Little sister has been saying some hilarious things lately and I often look at her in wonder. Some of you may have seen this Facebook update from a few days ago.

“Little One earlier this morning: “Mommy the computer got chilled!” Me: “What?” … She thought the computer FROZE!

After I checked it, she turns to me and says: “It’s okay, mommy, the computer chilled out again!”

It still cracks me up. I really need to write more of what she says down – some of it is just too funny not to share. She also uses some big words for a 4 year old. I don’t remember her siblings doing that. She is just a little fire cracker. 🙂

Time to join Hilary for her Follow Friday Four Fill in Fun… Make sure you put on your thinking caps and send some statements to her. She’ll make you co-host if she uses yours!!!

This week’s statements:

1. I can really use ________ right now.
2. I like to ___ my _____
3. The color of the sky right now is ______
4. I get annoyed _____ because of ________

My answers:

1. I can really use a piece of chocolate right now.

2. I like to wear my comfy, fluffy socks at night to keep my feet warm.

3. The color of the sky right now is black. It’s night time and I can’t see any stars.

4. I get annoyed at some of the bag “boys” at our local grocery store because of the way they throw the food into the bags.

From one football mom to another, it’s a wild ride with a few scares here and there but for the most part, it’s a lot of fun. Your little firecracker is adorable!

I could use a margarita right now!

Big Yay for chocolate! Hmm, I wonder about those ‘bag boys’ at supermarkets, for the most part I am bagging my own stuff in bags I brought in, I guess there is still quite a bit of German in me 😉

    • Susi May 18, 2013 at 12:34 pm

Claudia, I prefer to do the same and I try to remember to bring my own bags… problem is the bag boys get mad when you insist on doing it yourself!
