Change of plans

May 31, 2013

john lennon quote

That John Lennon was one smart guy.

We were all set to start enjoying our summer at home this year

once the kids get out of school this coming Wednesday.

Pool, beach, parks

and the occasional weekend trip to other parts of Florida that we haven’t yet explored.

Late evenings and late mornings, lazy days…

But things have a way of changing unexpectedly, very unexpectedly.

There I was, late morning, huffing and puffing away on the elliptical when my phone rang.

It was the kids’ school and as usual my heart started beating a little faster, right away wondering if something had happened to one of the kids. But no, this call was not about them, it was for me. A call from the Summer camp director wondering if I was still available to work the Summer…

I had, quite honestly, given up all hope and not even considered it as an option anymore since I know, that by now things are usually in place for Summer camp.

I am beyond excited, to tell you all, that starting June 10th, I will be working as a camp counselor at the kids’ school and that all three of my kids will be able to attend the camp free of charge.

The boy will be able to go to Robotics camp for the duration,

Middle daughter will be able to attend musical theater camp

and little one will be attending day camp – a first for her!

I will be in one of the game rooms for the smaller campers (ages 3-6) with one other counselor and the children will come in on a rotating basis throughout the day.

I am truly happy about this opportunity, even more so that it came so very unexpectedly.

The kids are excited, especially little one who has been home with me up until now.

I can’t wait for all of us to start our Summer…

If you are in the South Florida area, especially Boca Raton or Delray Beach and you are still looking for a place for your kids,

you should have a look at this camp. Here’s a link.

There are many options available, different sessions and even a half-day camp for the little ones.

(I was not compensated or asked in any way to write this or link to the camp. I just thought, I’d share a great place for children to enjoy their Summer. )

Woohoo…

🙂

Have a great weekend everyone!

What a great opportunity- and the kids get to attend free! It’s strange how things happen right about the time we have given up. Have a great time with summer camp!

Susi!!! That is awesome! What a great opportunity! If I was visiting my in-laws (they are back here now), I would so send my three younger ones. You are going to have a blast and how fun for your kids!

What a fantastic opportunity for you! Oh, you guys will have such fun! I wish I was closer … I could babysit your pool all day while you are at work! haha

I tagged you in my post today. yes – one of “those” tag things. but you know, never any obligation or pressure. I just liked this one because it’s basically a list of your favourite things.

Ha ha. Sounds good. I’m sure the pool will be lonely while we are off having fun! I’ll head over to see the tag – thanks!
