Friday Fill ins…

August 15, 2013

This week was a mixture of summer fun and school prep – a little play and more than a little work.

The girls and I had fun swimming and splashing in the pool and just enjoying the sun. We’ve had so much rain that these hot and sunny days are actually a pleasure. Well, as long as you are near the pool, that is. 🙂

The work part hasn’t been too much fun. Why is it that every year the paperwork for school gets worse and worse? I have to do everything in triplicate from now on… Joy!!!

Tonight, we had our (pretty much) weekly dinner at our favorite Japanese restaurant and I got my “prize” for answering a question about a meal on their Facebook page correctly.

8-15 lychee martini

This is a lychee martini and oh my was it good. I’m not a big drinker at all and I never considered myself a martini girl. But this tasted just heavenly… the lychee fruit is sweet but not overly so and the martini was made with a citron vodka which gave it just a little tartness. Lip smacking good.

8-15 paradise roll

And this beauty is a paradise roll. I love rolls that incorporate avocado and don’t have any rice – that just fills you up. This one had a nice bite but not too much and the baby asparagus added a nice crunch!!!

I’m more than a little obsessed with this place! 🙂

Okay, enough about yummy food and on to our scheduled Friday programming!

Each week, Hilary plans on listing four statements with a blank for us to fill in on our own blogs. If you want to join the fun and come up with four fill in’s of your own, please email them to her. If she uses them, she will add you as co-host to the hop! This week’s co-host is Rachael from Print and Stitch – she came up with the last two statements!

Hilary would LOVE it if you could please help her spread the word about this hop…. So, please tweet, FaceBook share, and add the linky to your post…

This week’s statements:
1) I hate when I _____
2) I sometimes long for _____
3) Thinking about ___ always makes me ____
4) My favorite day of this week so far was ___ because____

My answers:

1) I hate when I have to clean up the kitchen again after I “closed” it down for the night. You know, when people get the munchies for a midnight snack and don’t clean up after themselves? 🙂

2) I sometimes long for a quiet weekend away by myself somewhere.

3) Thinking about school starting always makes me want summer to start over again.

4) My favorite day of this week so far was Tuesday or Wednesday because the girls and I spent some mother-daughter time swimming and lounging by the pool – just enjoying these last few days of summer.

Just a little reminder to check out the Focus on Mom challenge and get your pretty faces in front of the camera!!!

A lychee martini–sign me up. Can’t believe you are getting the kids ready for school. I always hated this time of year when I was a kid. I lived near the school and they would start blasting the bell testing it out. Whenever I heard that I wanted to cry.

Ha, I can relate to that. We live across from the kids’ old elementary school and can hear the bell as well. And when I grew up I lived directly across form my elementary school and that one had a very loud bell!!!

    the martini looks amazing!

I hate that it is the middle of august – summer has gone too fast!

    • Susi August 16, 2013 at 12:15 pm

It sure has, Hilary. This one was over in the blink of an eye. Guess that happens when you have fun. As for that martini – I’ll make sure Tina makes us some when you guys come down here next time!!! 🙂

My sons went back to school the 1st of August. And while the summer seemed so much shorter, I was glad to have them out of the house and it back to being quiet so I could work.

    • Susi August 16, 2013 at 2:35 pm

I know that the quiet time is always nice to have. 🙂

  • Yvonne August 16, 2013 at 2:39 pm

I think we all want time alone sometimes.

    Have a great weekend!

I hope the right people it was intended for get your hint in #1 – LOL. Yeah, I can feel the end of summer (w/o school holidays…) and hate it 🙁
