First Day of School and Jitter Bubbles

August 26, 2013

I thought, in honor of my Little One’s first day of preschool, I’d share this poem with you that she received with a bottle of “jitter bubbles” as a welcome to school gift from her preschool teacher at Open House on Friday.

I’m so very happy that she gets to go to the same school her big brother and sister are at. She was able to familiarize herself with the campus over the summer at camp and also met both her teachers there.

All this, I think, will make the transition from being home with me, to going to school all day, easier on her and yes, also put my mind at ease.

I freely admit that I’m having a bit of a rough time with my last little chick leaving the nest.

8-24 jitter bubbles

Jitter Bubbles

The first day of school is finally here,

You’ve waited so long it is finally near!

You have brand new clothes and sneakers too,

A backpack and lunchbox, all shiny and new!

You’ve met your teachers and explored your new classroom,

It’s hard to believe the big day is soon!

You can’t fall asleep, though you are ready for bed,

So many questions fill up your head!

Just reach for the bubbles we gave to you,

They will make you feel better, we promise. It’s true!

So lift up your wand, take a big breath and blow,

And into the bubbles your jitters will go!

As the bubbles float through the quiet night air,

Your worries go with them, you won’t have a care.

As each bubble pops know we think of you

For we are so excited for school to start, too!

Sweet dreams!

Even writing it, I tear up. I tried reading it out loud to Little One and I cannot make it through without crying – just yet.

Wishing all your munchkins a wonderful first day, first week, first year at school!!!

xo, Susi

    Oh bother…….water flowing. eyes blurring.
I am going to give it my best shot to read this through to my last little schoolbound chick too.

I’ve shared my feelings about back to school and little one beginning her school career earlier this week so I won’t bore you with that again. If you would like you can read about it here. […]
