Weekend Trip {Busch Wildlife Sanctuary}

September 3, 2013

We had a busy three-day weekend, starting with the big kids going to their respective friends’ houses for sleepovers Friday night. So Little One had us all to ourselves. We went out for a bite to eat and after took her bowling for the first time. I have never been much of a fan of bowling but have to admit that I had a great time and enjoyed myself. Little One loved it so much she asked to go back everyday and all day over the weekend.

On Saturday, we had to drive up to Jupiter to pick up middle daughter from her friend’s house. We left a little early so we could stop for lunch at one of hubby’s favorite seafood restaurants – they have the best and freshest raw clams around. Since we came with plenty of time to spare we headed to the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary which we discovered a while back on one of hubby’s sojourns to finding cool guitar shops.

I really enjoy going there. It’s a “non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and conservation of Florida’s wildlife and natural resources” and “the Sanctuary cares for sick, injured and orphaned wild animals and educates children and adults about wildlife and nature.” You get so close to the animals and knowing that they are there because they are/were sick or injured and are being cared for makes me feel a bit better about seeing them in cages. Also, a large number of the animals will be returned to their natural habitats after rehabilitation.

It’s really a cool place to visit and if you happen to be in the area and have some time to spare, you should totally go and stop by!

You can find out more about the sanctuary by going to their website or find them on Facebook.

Here are some pictures I took while we were there. (Please click on an image to start a slideshow and to see the photos in full size, as well as the captions.) Enjoy!!!

Wishing everyone a great week!!!

      It was pretty great. I like it when you can see the animals in what is pretty close to their natural habitat. Hope you make it to the zoo soon. 🙂
