10 on Tuesday or a very late {Instagram Sunday}

September 10, 2013

It’s been a few days since my last post and my {Instagram Sunday} is woefully late. But when some of your favorite people come in for a visit from across the Atlantic, you want to spend time with them and not sit in front of the computer. I briefly thought about my blog home and I still posted to Instagram and checked Facebook but I didn’t open up this computer once since Friday morning. Not only didn’t I have the time or inclination but the boy also “borrowed” it so he could keep up with playing Minecraft while we were at my mom’s.

Skipping School

So, yeah, we left the house Saturday morning with the intention of going to my mom’s for a quick day trip to say “Hello” to my aunt and uncle, spend a few hours together and then head back home – well, we didn’t get home until Monday afternoon. We had packed some overnight bags – just in case – so we were good until Sunday. Sunday morning after breakfast, I packed everything up, helped my mom straighten up all the beds and then sat down to watch the kids, my uncle and hubby shot targets with the BB gun before we were ready to go. It was hot – so very hot on the west coast – one thing led to another and we all ended up in the pool…

Long story short, no one, least of all the kids, wanted the fun to end and we decided to “skip school” for one day and stay one more night!

Today, the kids are back in school and we are already counting the hours until Friday afternoon when my mom, aunt and uncle will come to our house for a few more days of fun on the east coast!

9-10 rainbow

This shot is from Friday morning. As I was driving home after dropping the kids at school I noticed a rainbow and when I got to this light, I couldn’t whip out my phone fast enough and was quite delighted by the rainbow stretching all the way across the sky. It looked like I was driving under it. Made my day start with a smile.

9-10 open road

Hitting the road. Driving along Alligator Alley ( I-75) always makes me want to stop and take out my big girl camera for some landscape shots. There’s just something about the Everglades that gets me every time.

9-10 road trip

Road trips are not so much fun when you are cooped up in the car with your sisters for 2 1/2 hours – as a matter of fact, they stink so much that my boy won’t even look at the camera for a picture.

9-10 goodies from Germany

Of course, seeing all the goodies that our favorite aunt and uncle brought from Germany makes it all worth it. So much goodness in one bag!!!

9-10 two of my fave boys

And look here! Two of my favorite “boys” smiling for the camera!!! My uncle – always more like a big brother – and my boy. LOVE!!!

9-10 floating in the pool

So, how cool is this shot. I did not enhance this in any way. The sun flare is all natural and I love it. Yeah, I love the cutie in the float, too. 🙂

9-10 pool fun

This was how we spent most of our Saturday – probably the most people my mom ever had in her pool at one time!!!

9-10 weekend scenes

And a few more scenes from the weekend. The rocking chairs in front of Cracker Barrel always make for a good photo op and just look at that sky! And our Gracie got lots of attention too.

9-10 chorus frog

Oh yeah, then I noticed this little guy and my uncle tried to rescue it – until he hopped away and sprayed something – and I had to look up frogs in Florida. With the help of my übersmart boy, we figured out that this is a harmless Chorus Frog that’s very common in Florida!

9-10 riding a tractor

And THEN we saw this. And we didn’t have any words. Except my mom: “Only in Lehigh.” You had to be there…

So there you have it – a little late – but completed!

I’ll be back tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday – with some shots from the “big girl” camera. Hope you’ll join me.

Linking up this post with Diana at Diana Wrote – go show her some love. She’s been going through a tough time lately and could use all the love and support we can send her way.

Wishing all of you an awesome week!

Amazing pictures! I must say you’ve nice picture capturing sense. My favorite one is the rainbow. It’s mobile capture but really have the rainbow color effect intact. Thanks.

Love all the happy in between all the smiles 🙂
    What a rainbow!
Family is more important than anything especially the ones who bring sacks of candy. Can I be his family?
