Sick of sickness

December 16, 2013

My poor blog is feeling abandoned but there is not much I can do about it at the moment. I thought since I had an unexpected day “off” today, I could get a few things done and maybe even get a proper post out but between being nurse maid to two sick children and using the time to get some cleaning done – the blog didn’t get any love from me.

A sure sign of a sick Ally. She's asleep in the middle of the day. Poor baby's been whiny all morning. #sickkid #littlesister #Allycat

This was Ally yesterday, finally succumbing to whatever had been bothering her. She woke up 2 hours later and started throwing up and continued to do so a few more times. She was not a happy camper.

Meanwhile, the boy spent all day Saturday and most of Sunday in bed feeling miserable. No throw up there but lots of coughing and sneezing and feeling dizzy and weak.

The only one, besides me, who so far has escaped the wrath of flu season, is Ashley. She decided it would be fun to learn how to iron – more power to her. The faster she learns, the sooner I can hand over that most dreaded chore to her!!! 🙂

She wanted me to teach her how to iron after she watched me iron daddy's work shirts. Practicing on some kitchen towels.

Today, Ally did some more napping but started perking up this afternoon and ate quite a lot and kept everything down. She’s looking forward to her holiday party at school tomorrow and I’m glad she’s able to make it.

Sleep is the best medicine. #allycat #littlesister #sickkid

The hubby on the other hand will most likely spend tomorrow on the couch. He dragged himself in to work this morning but came home in about the same shape Conner was in on Saturday. He is currently snoring away on the other end of the couch with the help of some NyQuil. Let’s hope it helps!!!

Meanwhile, my hands are starting to turn into sandpaper from the constant washing but what’s a mom to do? Other than keeping Lysol and Clorox close at hand, as well!!!

I refuse to get sick!!!

Phew – I keep my fingers crossed for you. Don’t get sick! Stay strong! I had a little hint of a flu on Thursday, ate a lot of extra vitamin C, couldn’t afford to get sick with a German 1st time visitor to NYC 😉 Knock on wood, I’m still o.k. Hope your family will be fine in no time, especially for Christmas!

I’ve been stocking up on emergenC and so far I’ve avoided a major illness… 🙂

don’t worry about the sandpaper feels — it sucks being sick this time of year!!
I only have a cold, but it has already been nagging me for 2 weeks, and I am afraid the kids are going to get sick sooner or later too. And hopefully not a Christmas. Don’t kiss mommy kids – stay away! LOL
I’ve put off my holiday baking until today – I can’t put if off anymore with company arriving Friday.
I’ll just have to put one of those masks on! nice look. 🙂
Hope everyone feels better soon and gets filled up with good Christmas cheer instead!

Oh, man! I hope you have a healthy household soon! There’s nothing worse than being sick over the holidays! 🙁

Thanks, Melinda. I really hope so too. It just keeps coming. Had to pick up Ally from school today – she was running a 104 fever. Took her to the doctor and he says she has a touch of influenza. The husband is still on the couch but a little more perky than before. And it looks like the middle child will be home tomorrow too. 🙁

You just have to take advantage of her wanting to iron as long as you can!!!!
Also: boo to sickness, you know I’m with you on that one…

Kerstin, hope you are feeling better! The road to recovery is very slow here but recovering we are! 🙂

Fingers crossed for you. And I hope everyone recovers in time for Christmas. I hate ironing as well, which is why all my clothes are wrinkled.

    • Susi December 21, 2013 at 11:05 pm

I try to buy wrinkle resistant clothing as much as possible! And I found a new dry cleaner to bring hubby’s work shirts too if need be! 🙂
