I just wanted to take a moment this Christmas Eve morning and wish all of you that stop by my humble blog home and read and comment and support me, a happy holiday season, surrounded by your loved ones and hopefully, lots of good health!
As some of you know this past week and a half has been a crazy one in our household – all three kids had the flu to one extent or another, and after three days on the couch, the hubby finally decided to see a doctor – and came away with a diagnosis of severe bronchitis bordering on pneumonia. The kind doctor informed him if we had waited another day or two, hubby may have well ended up in the hospital. So, this Christmas, I’m counting my blessings and am grateful that we all have our health (mostly).
I was going to lament the fact that I am so far behind in all my pre-Christmas plans/traditions but decided the other day that it simply didn’t matter. The Christmas cards will be late but they will arrive! And one way or the other things will get done and what doesn’t get done just doesn’t matter.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last two days -sitting on the couch with my family and watching (Christmas) movies, some we’ve never seen like Elf, Arthur Christmas and Despicable Me 2, oh and Epic. We baked and decorated Christmas cookies while listening to Christmas music and just enjoyed being together and taking it easy.
Seeing hubby so sick puts things into perspective – in all our 14 years together he’s never been sick to this extent and the worry is always there. He keeps telling me not to worry but I can’t help it…
I look forward to a quiet Christmas Eve just the five of us and a perfectly roasted duck with all the trimmings. The kids will open their first present tonight – the yearly Christmas pajamas and we will watch another movie together. And tomorrow, if this elf gets all the wrapping done and Amazon comes through – the kids will tear into their pile of gifts left by Santa.
Then we will leave the mess behind and have a nice Christmas brunch with great-grandma and spent some time with her.
I’m going to miss having my mommy here tonight but know that we will have a wonderful weekend with her at the end of the week!!!
Love you all!!!
