Focus on Mom/(Not So)Wordless Wednesday – Time for MOM to get in the picture

January 8, 2014

We are back! Nicolette and I are thrilled to return with Focus on MomΒ after a short break for the holidays – a busy time for all of us and also a time to enjoy being with family and friends and making memories. We hope you had a chance to get in the picture and are ready to share some of those shots with us!!!

Here are a few of my recent Focus on MomΒ shots.

FOM me at DisneyOn a recent trip to Disney I made sure to get myself in the picture – even if it was just a few selfies. I was the family photographer and in between getting on rides, meeting princesses and Minnie, I drove my kids and husband crazy trying to capture memories! But capture them I did. Click here if you’d like to have a look at our Disney trip!

FOM Conner and I

What’s even harder than getting yourself in the picture? Getting your teenager in the picture!!! I had Ashley snap this shot of Conner and myself and I’m glad for it. He’s growing so fast and seemed to have just shot up in height over the past few months. I know by the end of this year he’ll likely tower over me… And that thought just made my tummy do a flip!

FOM girls and I

My girls are much more willing “victims”, especially Ash – she’s likely to be in most pictures. Here we are on the way to a New Year’s Eve lunch with great-grandma.

FOM kids and I

This was officially the first picture of the new year – we all made it to midnight which I honestly didn’t think would happen. But I guess we got to a point where a second wind hit and ended up staying up until about 1 in the morning. It took some cajoling but Conner finally decided to stop giving me a hard time and get in the picture – he even smiled! Started my year off right. πŸ™‚

We also visited Gumbo Limbo, a turtle rehabilitation and nature preserve. It's wonderful to see the turtles be brought back to full health and then released back into the ocean.

The girls and I spent Friday enjoying the beautiful weather here in South Florida with a trip to Gumbo Limbo Nature CenterΒ and shortly after we arrived one of the volunteers offered to take a picture of me and the girls together! A first for this year and I hope a good omen for more family pictures – I don’t remember anyone offering to take a picture of the whole family when we were out and about and I’d really love more of those!

Hubby and I on our first "date" of the year - my FIL's and his best childhood friend's 60th birthday party. We went without the kids but still had to "babysit" hubby's grandma.

And the next day, someone else offered to take a picture of Corey and I – definitely a great start to another great year of photographs! πŸ™‚ Don’t we look cute all gussied up for a fun night? πŸ˜‰

Now it’s your turn to get in front of the camera and get yourself in the picture!!! If you write up a post, leave a link in the comments for some comment love from Nicolette and I. Great pictures, Susi! I love that your husband and son got into the picture with you. My son still loves having his picture taken, so I’m taking advantage of that until it changes (which should be any minute now πŸ˜‰ )

Kerstin, thanks. Yes, take advantage of it while it lasts. πŸ™‚

You have such a beautiful family! And those 2 girls…. I can almost hear their laughter right through the picture. they remind me so much of my own 2.
I noticed the other day my son laid his head on my shoulder. What?! And he did not have to stand on tip toes to do it. Yeah, I know that nervous tummy thing you speak of!
I am so sick this week — you do NOT want me in a selfie. πŸ™

Thanks, Sandra. When I first got the glasses I was very hesitant to go with the frames but they have definitely gotten a lot of compliments. πŸ™‚

Thanks, Claudia! I like it too and yes, I could forever hide behind the camera but try to get in front of it every so often. πŸ™‚

I love seeing you in the pictures! I think it’s time for me to start handing the camera to my family and get myself into some photos, as well. I don’t have a lot of me in our family activities.

    • Susi January 17, 2014 at 7:47 pm

Karen, that was always me and so when my friend started FOM I always tried to link up and now I’m her co-host! πŸ™‚
