Spring Cleaning and Veronica Mars {Snapshot Sunday}

Spring break is effectively over. One more day of rest tomorrow and then it’s back to the grind. I really needed this week… There was so much that had been left on the wayside since I started working. Things that I usually was able to take care of while the kids were in school. And of course, sleeping later than the ungodly hour of 6 AM was a very nice bonus.

Monday, I took the car in for an oil change and while we waited for the car to get taken care of, the girls and I walked around looking at some of the shops in the area and then had a nice lunch at Subway.

After lunch I took the kids to Gamestop to pick out some new games for the PS4. Little One wanted a game that she could play and the boy really, really, really had to have that new game that everyone is talking about. And since the weather was perfect for an afternoon of relaxing on the couch and playing videogames, I made their day!

What did I get out of the deal? This…

Peace! Peace and quiet, for more than 5 minutes and three siblings that didn’t snipe at each other. A mother’s version of heaven! :)

Tuesday we had the unpleasant task of having to get our bi-yearly dental check-up and cleaning, which took quite some time, like the whole afternoon, because they took care of all 4 of us. We all walked out with clean, shiny teeth and only one tiny cavity for little one. I was pretty happy to be done with it for another 6 month. I also got the excellent news that I can get Invisalign without having to have all 4 of my very impacted wisdom teeth removed.

For the sake of keeping this post a decent length, I’ll put the rest of the snapshots in a collage. If you want to know details, click on any image for a slideshow with captions!

And what does Veronica Mars have to do with all this? After all the dusting, cleaning, steam cleaning of carpets, gardening and gazillion other chores, I needed something to relax with. As so often happens these days, hubby decided to check out a new to us show on Amazon Prime – Veronica Mars. We never watched the show when it was on regular TV but after one episode, okay, maybe two, middle daughter and I got hooked and started binge watching the show, staying up way too late each night… It’s on in the background as I write this. We are almost through season 2 and once we are done with season 3 we’ll watch the new Veronica Mars movie, which just happened to come out on DVD this past week.

So there you have it. We spent Spring Break, spring cleaning, crafting, gardening and watching Veronica Mars! So while we didn’t do anything exciting, we did things that needed to be done!

Hope you all have a great week!

xo, Susi

  1. You know how to do brinner! that looks yummy amazing!
So jealous you got to do some gardening! I am actually watching snowflakes fall outside my window.
It feels like April Fool’s – except, no joke. The girls built a snowman and called him Olaf. of course.

the key to keeping those lovely flowers alive and blooming – besides water and sunshine obviously – is to keep them “dead-headed.” that means pinching off old blooms, which allows for new growth. Also, some of them may require fertilizer a couple of times during the season. You can buy it in little sticks that you just push into the ground nearby. Or, as I do, Miracle Growth has stuff that will attach to your garden hose so that when you water, it mixes.

    • I saw the snowman and kinda shook my head in disbelief. We’ve had snow this late in the year in Germany too but it is so long ago that you forget. Thanks for the tips. I did get some Miracle Grow that you add to water and then water the flowers with it. I’ll try to work on the dead-heading… That’s where my issues lie – the maintenance… Wish me luck!

  2. You’re gardening and we’re just above the freezing mark, +7 today whoo hoo.
I like the stacked succulents. It made me think of this. Summer project???

Do you serve the Yin and Yang at brinner?

    • Can you believe that I actually thought of stacking them this way. They had these little trays on sale and I saw it and the idea popped into my head. Hope they will grow. And today, I could have used a nice yin and yang with dinner but alas, it’s a Melting Pot specialty. Not sure I could make that!

  3. Sounds like a wonderful week. Sometimes you just need to catch up – I so know the feeling. And I still have to do the oil change…

  4. Ooooo…green things. I haven’t seen much of any growth outside in my yard. *Sad face.
That drink looks like I should be swimming in it.
