A heated pool, Seder dinner, Easter egg coloring and Easter brunch… {Snapshot Sunday}

April 20, 2014

So, I’m going to try to give you all a glimpse of what the past two weeks have been like around these parts and why I’ve been MIA.

4-11 pool time at Omi's

I’ll start with last weekend when we went to visit my mom to spend some time with friends from Germany who were visiting. The weekend before they came over here for a day trip to see a little bit of the East coast – and that’s pretty much when I went “missing”… I got busy with life.

We enjoyed my mom’s pool which is heated and much more comfortabel than ours which is still a bit on the cool side!

4-12 pretty girl

The next day, we decided to stop by Cracker Barrel for a late lunch, early dinner before heading to the beach to watch the sunset. I couldn’t resist snapping a picture of my pretty girl – she just looks so cute with a hat!

4-15 seder dinner

I’m not sure what we did on Monday, other than go to work/school and catch up from the weekend. On Tuesday, we went to Seder dinner for Passover with hubby’s grandma. It was a nice evening and the food was pretty good but I was really grateful that I didn’t have to stand in front of the stove all day or clean up after the feast. I was just able to sit and enjoy!

4-17 tea time

Wednesday I needed a little pick-up for a rainy, dreary afternoon and enjoyed a nice cup of freshly brewed tea in my shiny, new teapot that came all the way from Germany. The tea did too, a fine black tea from an area in Germany called East Frisia – simple delicious with a little sugar and a touch of milk.

4-18 shirley the hamster

Thursday was our Friday for this week and we took home Shirley with us again for the long weekend so she wouldn’t have to be alone in the Science lab for 4 days. I’m not sure what it is about this little critter but I just love her little twitchy nose and the way she likes to hide between the pillows.

4-19 easter egg coloring

Friday we were busy running around, errands and chores needed to be taken care of so we could enjoy all things Easter over the weekend – like coloring Easter eggs and decorating a little bit. I totally dropped the ball on decorating for Easter this year, not that I usually do that much of it anyways but this year it’s just been sad.

4-20 easter brunch

Today, we went to Easter brunch at grandma’s club with the in-laws. It was nice and for a change we were all together! Grandma’s aide took a nice picture of us to commemorate the occasion. The girls were trying to see who could eat the most desserts – not sure who was the winner. I do believe I lost that deal having to spend the afternoon with two sugared up, hyper girls. πŸ™‚

And now, just because, a few pics I took with my big girl camera yesterday…

The last picture is of the pretty Spring flowers I treated myself too when I saw them at the check out line. I edited them a bit with an HDR filter! There it is, a little picture catch-up of the past few weeks.

Have a great week, everyone!!!

LOVE that hat! beautiful colour – it’s perfect for her.
And the picture of you, the girls and your mom – Treasure!
A little jealous of the heated pool, ha!
My mom just got back from Florida – she was in a place called Treasure Island.
She just arrived on the Good Friday late at night, and repacked her bags to come here for Easter weekend. But she didn’t have time to download any of her pictures – so I will get to see them all on Mother’s Day.
Always lovely catching up with you! πŸ™‚

She liked the hat so much that she swiped it from my mom and it now resides in the trunk of my car!!! πŸ™‚ Hope your mom had a wonderful time.

I set myself the goal to blog at least once a week right now. If I can manage more, great, if not, still okay! πŸ™‚

Decorating or not, the holiday is made special when you spend it with those who are special. In other words, I did not decorate either but it was still fun πŸ™‚
    I’m also lazy like that.
I am in love with that teapot. How lovely is that?!
You have such a beautiful family and yes, what a doll she is in that hat!
    Totally rhymed there.

Love your rhyming! It was a nice Easter. And I love my new teapot – as a matter of fact I just steeped some nice rooibus leaves. πŸ™‚

You have been busy. A heated pool would be a little bit of heaven up here. Love the picture of your youngest holding the eggs. Your girls are getting so grown up.

    • Susi April 25, 2014 at 7:37 pm

Paul, don’t I know it – they are growing way too fast for my liking!

Oh my, I am envious of the heated pool. That sounds wonderful!

The Easter eggs turned out great! That is one thing that we did not do this year, oops!

    • Susi April 25, 2014 at 7:36 pm

I am envious of the heated pool too. It’s so nice to just take a leisurely swim when the water feels so comfortable!
