Goodbyes and new beginnings (sort of)

August 10, 2014

My dear friends, followers and readers,

Over the past couple of months it has become very clear to me that blogging has taken a serious backseat in my life and after some initial feelings of guilt, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s okay!

My life has gone through some changes in the past year and my status has changed from stay-at-home mom of three to full-time working mom of three. I’m lucky enough to have found a job that I truly love and work with people that I enjoy being around. As an added bonus, I get to work in close proximity to my kids which I absolutely love and they don’t seem to mind too much!

Because of all of this I have decided to say goodbye to this blog. When I started blogging almost three years ago, it was with the hopes of being able to generate a small side income. So with some major help from the hubby and a steep learning curve on my part, we set up a self hosted WordPress blog. A blog that costs a small amount of money to maintain.

It doesn’t feel right to keep this blog up and continue to pay for it when I barely use it anymore. Plus, I’ve been itching for a change…

But I cannot give up blogging completely, I’m just not quite there yet. I’m not ready to say goodbye to all of you and will continue to use my Blogger blog, renamed Susi’s Snapshots! I hope you will come and say hello and catch a glimpse of my life there on occasion!

I’ve thought about this for a few weeks now and it came about after I ran into some difficulties posting to WordPress from the mobile app and noticing some issues with my site. The endless updates, issues with plugins and upkeep of this site are just frustrating and a big time suck. When I feel like posting, I want it to be quick and smooth not riddles with site upkeep etc. .  I don’t have these types of issues with my Blogger blog and love using the Google+ comments that I can answer directly through my e-mail – big time saver and much appreciated ease of use!

I know, it may seem like a step backward. Who goes from a self-hosted WordPress blog to a Blogger blog? In my case, someone like me who just wants to simplify and enjoy sharing snippits (snapshots) of my life and connect with you awesome people in the blogosphere and beyond!

I love all of you and hope that you will stick around. I’ll still be posting regularly to my other social media sites and will visit when I have the time.

Thank you all for being a part of this journey! I’ll see you on the other si(d)te!!! 🙂

xoxo, Susi

Hmm, I cannot say that comes as too big of a surprise. And I am sure that you thought this step through thoroughly. So, what’s left to say: Good luck and see you on the other side!

It is not a step backward at all–it is what you need to do and for goodness sakes—your life is really different now and you can still do what you love by posting photos ! Good for you for doing what you needed to do and not stressing about it any more!!!

Susi, I believe you must go with how you feel ~ best of luck in the new blog! I just stopped over there but b/c I don’t have a google acct, I don’t think I can post. I was just wondering if you had ever thought of making greeting cards with your photos? You are so artistic. If you would be interested in checking it out, let me know. And if not, no worries! 🙂 Best of luck to you!

I don’t think it matters if you have a google account or not and I appreciate you stopping by here. I have honestly never thought about greeting cards but it sure would be cool to see my photographs on some! Thanks so much for stopping by. 🙂

Blogging absolutely must fit into the realities of your life — and really, Life does come first right?
I have been less and less visible this summer too – and I am okay with that. I seem to be going in fits and burst this summer, and not really doing the the deep writing that I aspire too. But that’s okay. ebbs and flows.
And also why I stay with Blogger 🙂

You know I’ll follow you anywhere!! And be happy to see your beautiful photos.

Love my Blogger blog… I find it much easier to take care of. I never did get the hang of WP.

Change is fun! I hope that you thoroughly enjoy this fresh start. It sounds like your job is fantastic and that’s always a lovely thing. Can’t wait to follow along for your photos!

Thanks, Helen. Yes, so far I’m loving the ease and simplicity and not being bogged down by all the stuff… It’s giving me new blogging mojo. 🙂
