This post may be familiar to some of you. I posted it previously on my other blog when I thought I would switch there permanently. I figured since more eyes see this blog and most people hadn’t seen it, I would post it again. It was so much fun to work on this post and there may be others like it in the future. Not that I’m much of a fashionista but I do like new clothes, changing up outfits and playing with make-up. So why not add this to the mix? Now that I’m back at work, I actually get to wear different things and don’t just live in my yoga pants and t-shirts.
I thought, I’d try my hand at being a fashion blogger tonight. The hubby took the girls and I shopping at the newish Palm Beach Outlets. We hadn’t been before and since both the hubby and I needed some new work clothes, he suggested we go there and check it out. We were not dissapointed and both of us walked away with a few nice things to add to our wardrobe and all at some phenomenal prices.
I found a few cute, new tops at Express! I was on the lookout for some black and white tops this time around and got very lucky. I wear mostly three-quarter or long-sleeved tops to work because the lab gets so cold and short-sleeves usually just don’t cut it. I like to be warm. The necklace is hand-made by my friend and colleague. She’s pretty amazing and has a hand for making home-made jewelery. I’m sure you’ll see more from her around here.
I love the gathered front of this white top – very slimming and it just adds a nice touch. The necklace is a home-made one as well. Middle daughter bought the pieces at another friend’s bead shop a while back and I ended up putting the pieces together. It’s a white leather cord with a ceremic butterfly and two hearts. Guess, who’s been actually wearing it. 🙂
This is the last top I got at Express. A cute, little polka dot sweater with gathered, three-quarter sleeves. I think, this one will definitely keep me warm in the lab but isn’t so heavy that I can’t get some wear out of it even in the Florida heat.
We stopped at a lot of stores. Some we just browsed around, others we walked in and out off without too much looking around and left empty-handed. I thought, this would be the case at Van Heusen. It’s not a store that’s on top of my shopping list. So imagine my surprise when I walked out with the most comfortable pair of navy blue pants (another item that I’ve been looking for) and a cute top to match. All for less than half the price of the pants alone at the normaI suggested retail price. I do love outlet shopping. 🙂
The pants are a slim-fit cut and they are soft and stretchy and best of all, no buttons or zippers. But they are not leggings. I also fell in love with the top. It’s long-sleeved and the front has a shiny, satin look while the sleeves and back are more of a jersey material. Again, super comfortable. The necklace I paired with this outfit is from India and was a gift from hubby’s aunt who lives there with her husband.
And our last stop was the Clarks shoe store. Ever since I got my first pair of Clarks I have fallen in love with the brand and find their shoes so comfortable and easy to wear all day. I could have gone crazy in that store and will definitely be back. I even tried on a pair of heels that I will have to return for. Very soon!!!
This time around I stuck to what I came for, a new pair of shoes for work in navy-blue.
When we first got to the mall I saw, to my utter delight, a Maidenform store. I will spare you the pics of my new undergarments, some things ought to be kept private, don’t you think? But I have always loved this store and prefer it to Victoria’s Secret. I used to go to the store at the outlet mall my mom works at but for some reason they pulled out. I was so so bummed and haven’t found one of their stores since. I was so excited to find they sell Barely There bras. Ladies, these are by far the best, most comfortable, barely there bras ever and I highly recommend them.
So, what do you think? How did I do as a fashion blogger? Let me know what you think?
Have a great week!
