Filling in the blanks and blog hopping…

October 9, 2014
Feeling Beachie
It’s few and far between that I have time to join Hilary for her blog hop on time. Lately, I’ve been posting on Saturdays, if at all. But tonight, I happened to think of it and instead of getting lost on Facebook for an hour I clicked right over.
Here are this week’s statements:
Today is ___
  1. _____ is little ____ about____
  2. To have a friend you must____
  3. I wish I had____ in high school and not____

My answers:

  1. Today is Thursday, October 9, 2014!
  2. There is little that I know about many places out there in this big world.
  3. To have a friend you must open up and show them your real self.
  4. I wish I had better English language skills in high school and not the heavy, self-conscious making accent I did have.

Wishing you all a wonderful, relaxing and fun weekend!

xo, Susi

I don’t know about the accent you had then but I hardly hear it now…

    • Susi October 11, 2014 at 4:18 pm

From what people tell me it was definitely a lot thicker back then, not so much now. I don’t hear it when I speak but others still pick it up. It’s diluted enough now that people often ask me where I’m from… I often hear, they think England, Australia, South Africa and one or two have even said NY (must be Corey coming through 🙂 ).

      • Claudia October 14, 2014 at 7:07 pm

Hahaha – that’s so funny! I love it when people cannot pick my accent. These days my English is getting way more americanized, but I will always have an accent. However, when I came to the US back when.. from 3 years in Australia, people were really baffled about my accent – LOL

        • Susi October 14, 2014 at 9:38 pm

Claudia, that must have been truly interesting. The Australian accent combined with the German – yeah, I can imagine how people were confused. 🙂

  • Janice October 10, 2014 at 3:56 pm

Oh I wish I could hear your accent. Must be so cool in an exotic way!
And I like your answer for the friend – so true!

    • Susi October 11, 2014 at 4:15 pm

I always say I will do a vlog one day but I just don’t like to hear the sound of my own voice! :)But never say never!!!

I wish I had kept up with the other languages I took in high school. My French is so so – I read better than I speak. But my Spanish is pretty much gone.
    Nice sky!
And I love that kitty! I saw a black kitten when we got Cashew — I wanted him sooo bad. But we were just getting one for now.

    • Susi October 11, 2014 at 4:13 pm

I feel the same way about keeping up with all the different languages I learned. The one that I wish I had kept up with the most is definitely French – it’s such a pretty language and I loved learning it. Than there’s the Russian I can still decipher a bit, Spanish is so so – it’s good enough that I can make myself understood and you hear it all the time down here.
I’ve always wanted an orange tabby and may get one down the road a bit. Our Finn found us so to speak – she was a tiny kitten and crying in the neighbors backyard…

Your kitty looks a lot like our Chloe Jo. Cute!

    • Susi October 11, 2014 at 4:08 pm

Gotta love a black kitty! I hope Chloe Jo feels better soon!

You sure do have to open up and be real about yourself. I think that’s why me and my girlfriend who just passed got a long so well and so quickly.
    Accents are awesome girl!!!

    • Susi October 13, 2014 at 9:47 am

I’m sorry about your girlfriend’s passing. These kind of things are always so hard to deal with. But I do think that when you open up and let people in the friendship is more real but also more painful.
I like having an accent now… Not so much back then.

The world is a great big place and I think, we’ll never know all there is to know.
