Weekly musings and fill in fun

December 5, 2014

It’s Friday. Yippee! Only two more weeks until Winter break. This really has new meaning to me now… Especially this year. I’ve been at my current position for one year now and oh my, how things have changed. But I couldn’t be happier. I love my job, even if some days are stressful. Who doesn’t have stress at their job from time to time?

Tonight is our staff Christmas party and I always freak out a little when it comes to these events. Last night, middle and I went shopping so I could find something appropriate to wear. And really, appropriate in my mind only. According to some of my colleagues, some people show up in jeans. So really anything goes.
My feelings are that I don’t get to dress up all too often and the nature of my job doesn’t allow me to wear heels – not that I would anyways, but that’s not the point. So something like this comes up – I’m going to use the opportunity to get a little gussied up! (I love that expression!)
We ended up at Dress Barn. At first I was slightly put off by the fact that I like the store and found so many things to choose from. I always looked at it as a store for older women (no offense to anyone) I guess. I actually texted my mom and told her that I’m finally getting old, older in any case! 🙂
Here is the outfit I ended up with.
And some pretty, shiny new heels, with an actual heel and not just a wedge! They are so comfortable. At least comfortable for heels.

I found some other pretty tops and may have to go back soon. After all, I will need something to wear to hubby’s company Christmas party too. 🙂

Anyways, let’s get to the fun stuff for this Friday! It’s fill in time with Hilary!

The statements:

Sometimes I think _____
Do you love ____ as much as I do?
Black Friday _______________
__________________ is my favorite thing about long holiday weekends.

My answers:

1. Sometimes I think and wonder what my life would be like if we had never come to the U.S.. It’s not something I can actually imagine!
2. Do you love sushi as much as I do?
3. Black Friday should be abolished! I have never gone Black Friday shopping and never will. I wish, my mom didn’t have to go to work Thanksgiving evening and work all night.
4. Relaxing and spending time with my family is my favorite thing about long weekends. Oh, and sleeping in is great too.

Ok. Your turn! How would you finish the statements. Play along or just leave a comment with your answers. I’d love to know.
Have an awesome, super-duper weekend!!!

Feeling Beachie

P.S. You may have noticed that the look of my blog has changed again! I had some issues with the theme I used previously and it messed up some things so I switched back to an older one but I really hadn’t been happy with that one anymore. This one, I totally fell in love with – it’s just so clean and white and spacious! I think it makes my pictures stand out nicely! What do you think?

I love your new top. I have often shopped at dress barn and found good quality there. Have fun at your party.

Thank, Judy, on both counts. The party was fun and we did a lot of laughing. 🙂

I meant to tell you last visit that I loved the new look!! 🙂
go get it and have fun girl!! whoo-hoo! LOL
    Love that colour on you.
I guess we kinda lucked out up here with Black Friday, because it’s not a holiday for us at all – just another Friday – but we can still get some great deals. BUT, if it was a holiday – I would not participate.

Thanks and thanks!!! You know, I never considered myself a red girl but I kept admiring my mom in the color and she wore a lot of it. Since I’m my mothers daughter after all, I decided to give it a try one day and liked the results. So now I wear red. It also happens to be festive! And really, Black Friday is no holiday! Not at all.

Black Friday is about…black cats at our house! Ha! We don’t do Crazy…too much of it out there as it is!
    Actually, I do love sushi!

    • Susi December 7, 2014 at 10:42 pm

I so agree with you on that. It gets crazier and crazier every year. And sushi = yummy. 🙂

I am not sure if I love sushi as much as you but I love having sushi with you!

    • Susi December 7, 2014 at 10:43 pm

Well, you know where we will be having dinner when you guys come down to Florida again!!! 🙂

  • Claudia December 7, 2014 at 12:16 pm

I looooove sushi! Tried it the first time ever with David in Mannheim, didn’t know how to hold chopsticks, nothing – not anymore 🙂
Also agree very much with your answers to nos. 1, 3 and 4 – no big surprise, right?
Just saw the new look of your site – love it! Looks real clean

p.s. love the red top, too

    • Susi December 7, 2014 at 10:45 pm

I never had sushi before I met Corey and I can still remember when he taught me how to use chop sticks. Now, I cannot imagine not eating sushi at least once a week – definitely no more than two weeks between sushi nights!!! 🙂

  • Jennifer Farwell December 7, 2014 at 2:25 pm

Oooh, I love your top! 🙂 And like you, I also love sushi. 🙂 I’ve never gone Black Friday shopping either, unless you count buying a couple of things online if I remember to go look and see if something I’d planned on getting someone for Christmas is available. But in stores, and all that lining up? NO! Not for me.

    • Susi December 7, 2014 at 10:47 pm

Yeah, I can’t imagine standing in line for something for two or more hours with hundreds of other people for something I can probably by any other day for $30 more. It’s so not worth it. Online shopping on the other hand is much more comfortable and safe!!! 🙂
