Christmas 2014 Impressions – A Collage

December 27, 2014

I’ve been meaning to share a few snapshots from our Christmas and decided a collage was the best way to go. Just because. Today, we didn’t do too much, just took it easy and relaxed. I spent part of the day learning my way around our new computer and also spent some time with Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC. Two things I definitely want to learn more about and use with my photography! To round out this thoroughly relaxing day, hubby took me out to dinner to a new French restaurant in town. It was absolutely delicious. And the perfect place for date night. I felt very pampered. Thanks, hon!!!

I created this collage using Picasa and I’m not sure if this is a new feature, or one that just works this way with a iMac, either way, I’ve never been able to do this before in Picasa and I really like it. I finished it up in PicMonkey, as I often like to do and voila…

Christmas Collage 2014

There is just something about pictures taken with the glow of the lights on the Christmas tree in the background. I gave some thought to taking down my decorations today and may do so tomorrow. But I think, I will keep the tree around for just a bit longer! Even as I sit here and look over at it, it makes me smile.

Wishing you all a good night!

A new computer sounds great and sometimes does work wonders. I got a new laptop, too. But unlike you, I did not fall for the dark side! A while back I did some research on it and did not find any truly compelling reason to go Mac. When I got the new laptop I checked out macbooks again. Yet again I did not go that route, just because ‘supposedly all digital artists work on a mac?’ No, not me, there has to be more to it, which apparently I still don’t see.
But in any case, most important is that you enjoy your new toy and come up with more wonderful photos 😉
    Enjoy your Sunday!

I know the arguments and hubby was not thrilled but I just really like working on them. Our school is all Apple and I got really used to it. I’m not a big fan of Windows 8 at all and that has always put me off Windows devices. I’m not one to say you need to go one way or another but with whatever you are comfortable with. I love my Mac and know I will enjoy working on it!!! 🙂

Yeah, I’m the same as you. I guess if I had Apple at work, it might have swayed me to switch. But since I don’t. We have win7 on all our devices incl. work, but except for the new work laptop, which came with 8 🙁 But not much longer and then there’ll be 9 or even 10. Whatever, it is a tool. And as long as that works… we’re good!

I guess next up will be Windows 10 and possibly a whole new browser along with it. But like you said, as long as it works and works for you, it’s all good! 🙂

Congrats on the new computer! I’ve never worked on a Mac, so I have no idea of the difference. I’m just happy to have something! ha
I use Picasa quite a bit because it is so easy and user friendly. PicMonkey is great for doing some special edits, isn’t it!?
But I also just downloaded Lightroom — but I have not tried it yet, so will be interested in seeing how you like it. and some pics posted using it. 🙂

Lightroom is pretty great, very user friendly. I still have a lot to learn but like it so far. And then of course, there’s Photoshop – that one scares me a bit!!!

Love your collage – and yes, pictures takes by the glow of Christmas lights are something special. Glad to see you had a good Christmas!
