1/365 – Happy New Year!

January 1, 2015

Before this first day of the new year is over I wanted to pop in quickly and wish you all a happy, healthy and wonderful new year!

The past few days, I’ve been doing a bit of thinking and contemplating, while reading end-of-the year re-caps and beginning-of-the-year, contemplating the blank pages before us, type posts. Many of these posts were so inspirational and made me thankful to be part of this blogosphere with all you wonderful people in it!

In reading these posts, I realized a few things that I would like to accomplish in this new year. Nothing lofty or ringing with greatness, just my own little goals for myself. One such a goal is to do a photography project 365 on the blog. In it’s most basic form, all I will do is try to post a picture each day of the year, starting today. I’m going to start off without too much rhyme or reason and hope to find some prompts in the near future that I can loosely stick to and follow. One such prompt will come weekly, in the form of Through the lens ThursdayΒ hosted by two lovely ladies, Greta and Alison. And then there is wordless Wednesday of course, which is always a favorite. Some days, I may just recycle my Instagram shots for #fmsphotoaday hosted by Chantelle of FatMumSlim. In the end, the goal is to post one photo on this blog each day for the next year! Wish me luck!!!

There are other, photography related goals I have in mind, like learning to master Lightroom and Photoshop, which are now part of my photography repertoire thanks to creative cloud.

One thing is for certain, photography will continue to play a huge part in my day-to-day life next year and my mission is to carve out more time for it, even while working full-time.

This one also goes for today’s Through the Lens Thursday prompt – new. Happy New Year!!!

cloudy day

This one was my – sky – shot for #fmsphotoaday. The weather on this first day of the new year was dreary and rainy. But as I said on Instragram, without these cloudy, rainy days, I wouldn’t appreciate the bright, sunny days, that I love so much!

    Happy New Year!
And great photography goal! I find that I blog better when I have a photo to start with, so I think I might be joining you in that “resolution.” I want to post on my blog every day too, so a photo on each post is a reasonable goal. And I LOVE lightroom and photoshop. I use them all the time! (Photogrid and Picmonkey are my last minute, super quick editing tools though! Haha!)
Well, good luck to us in our photography endeavors!

I’ve been using at least one photo in each of my posts for the longest time and from early on I decided to use my own images instead of others. Good luck to you too – let’s cheer each other on on those days where we just don’t want to deal!!! πŸ™‚

A very happy New Year to you, Susi! With lots of health and fun and success in reaching your goals. Kudos for starting a 365. As you know I started strong on one last year, but then it tapered off when other things took over – sigh. I wish you: Viel Erfolg! (there just isn’t a good translation I found in English) And, of course, I’ll be stopping by and check out your photos.
As for Adobe Cloud, LR and PS – hmm, I don’t think I need to tell you how much I love those two πŸ™‚ You’ll have a blast. It is sometimes daunting diving in deeper, but it is very rewarding e.g. for the very first time I tried out the 3D feature for typography, that was fun.

Thanks, Claudia! I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself about this. Instead of always following prompts, I will post what strikes my fancy, as long as it is a photo!!! And I do hope, that many of them will be ones I tinkered with in LR or PS! πŸ™‚

    Happy New Year!
I’m excited to see your pictures – I think it’s a great goal πŸ™‚ xox

Danke dir Kerstin! I’ve been wanting to use my camera more and I think by setting myself a goal, I will accomplish that. I’m going to start taking my camera everywhere with me, even if I end up using my phone for those quick snaps! πŸ™‚

Happy new year! Beautiful pictures! I cannot wait to see more! I want to improve my photography skills this year. I got a book about photography and especially my camera so I will finally try to understand how exactly everything works!

Katrin, that’s great! Good luck! I’ve been reading some refresher tutorials over the last few days since I got a new lens for Christmas and last year I used my camera so rarely which is such a shame. I just love the feel of it and as great as my iPhone is for a few quick snaps, nothing compares to what you can do with a camera.

Happy New Year!!! All the best wishes to you and your family.
And so looking forward to seeing your photography all year! You take beautiful pictures already, and I found Through The Lens very helpful last year. I didn’t participate every week — but it was a great motivator. Plus, you get to see lots of stunning pics from your favourite bloggers.
Love the happy new year edit!! And will never get tired of seeing lovely palm tree and blue sunny skies pics from you. πŸ™‚

Thanks so much, Les. Knowing someone is out there who looks forward to seeing my pics gives me motivation to stick to it!!!
