140/365 – 144/365 Tie Dye, a fat lip, Thespians and #livelokai

140 - 144 project 365 collage

The end of the school year is upon us. Busy is the name of the game… While we are doing all the typical end-of-year things, we are (I am) prepping for summer camp already. Things are a little bittersweet right now… The boy is graduating from middle school and will officially be a freshman as of the coming school year. He is not going to be a camper this summer but a CIT (counselor-in-training) and I look up at him and wonder what happened? The pictures of him and his friend make me stupidly happy and I can’t stop looking at them. The joy, the smiles… (I have to thank our friend for being able to capture that moment!)

The red-headed middle child was officially inducted into the Junior Thespian Honor Society and I can’t wait to see her shine in the school’s plays or behind the scenes perfecting her make-up game, next year.

Tie dye was the name of the game in the lab last week… As much fun as it was for all the students that got to come in and tie dye their shirts, I don’t want to see another dye packet or soaked shirt for the next few weeks (until we do it again during summer camp). The work and mess generated by the endeavor is incredible and I was never happier to see my lab back in order Friday afternoon – let’s just say it was a long week! Of course, I couldn’t resist making myself a shirt. The before and after are in the left top of the collage. What do you think? 🙂

One morning, little one was very exuberant when I dropped her off at morning care, she jumped up to say good-bye and hug me but gave me a fat lip instead. It’s been a fun few days, now that’s it’s healing, every time I smile, it cracks open again… Just lovely. The joys of motherhood!

The boy and his friends have been going to “play” paintball a little more often the past few weeks. I don’t mind and love that they all get-together. I only wish that the paintball place wasn’t quite so far – I spend a good portion of yesterday afternoon/evening driving them there and picking them up. They smelled lovely – teenage boy sweat is no joke! Of course, I got to see the sun set on the way home and actually take a picture ( I was in the turn lane!!!) – a nice little perk.

Hubby had taken the girls to Guitar Center while I dropped the boys off at paintball and when I came home middle daughter had the best surprise for me. A lokai bracelet. I’ve been wanting one for a while but hadn’t seen them anywhere. The bracelet has two opposing sides, one, a white “pearl” – it’s said to have water from Mt. Everest in it. The other side is a black “pearl” with mud from the Dead Sea. White – because sometimes you’re on top of the world. Stay humble. And black – because sometimes you’ve hit a low. Stay hopeful. I just like the whole idea of it and love wearing it. #findyourbalance

This week promises to be no less busy… There is counselor training for camp after school for both the boy and I, an end-of-year/birthday party for little one and most importantly, her Kindergarten graduation. I don’t know how I will make it through that. My baby is definitely not a baby anymore and will remind you at every turn.

And here, my middle doing a solo lyrical dance at the middle school talent show last week. I would have never had the guts to get up in front of the whole middle school and do this. But she soaked it all in and enjoyed every minute of it. Also, as a side note, she never had any formal training, this is all what she learned in dance class at the school… a credit to both her natural talent and her amazing dance teachers. I may be sappy but it brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it. #proudmommy

I’m hopeful that today I will find some time to go to the beach with my girls and enjoy the rest of this day without worrying too much about all the chores that always need to get done.

You may have noticed a bit of a change around here too. Let me know what you think?

xoxo, Susi
