Demolition Day {The Lake House}

March 3, 2016

I’m so excited. Today is demolition day! The demo crew is coming in today to demo everything we need to get rid of and redo at the new house. Goodbye tiny pink bathroom tile. Hello gorgeous new bathrooms…

Our contractor told us yesterday that the demo company is bringing in a crew of 15 to 20 men to get everything knocked out today. I was surprised since I thought it would take at least a week. But I guess when you have people who know what they are doing things get done faster. I’m glad I was able to stop by after work yesterday and take a few more before photos. If time allows I will do a more detailed before post with more pics soon and then the “big” reveal. For now, here is a little collage of some of the major areas…

All the bathrooms will get a makeover, they need to be brought up to modern times and even code in one case. There are a few built-ins in two hallway areas that will be removed – I’m just not that fond of the shiny Formica look. Β The bar area will be turned into a half-bath and an alcove. The built-in entertainment center will be removed. And the carpets in the bedrooms, as well as the living rooms will be removed. I have so many ideas and can’t wait to see how everything turns out. This weekend, hubby and I will go look at flooring options for the bedrooms and living room. I love the idea of wood, so we will see what we can find. Luckily, the house has beautiful travertine floors throughout most of the common areas and the kitchen is great the way it is. So that’s one, well, actually two, major things out of the way. πŸ™‚

If any of you have any ideas or suggestions about any house renovations and decorating, please, please, please share with me. I’m all ears and would love to know what you think.

Have a great day!

xoxo, Susi

P.S. We call it the lake house, since we have a lake in our backyard – it’s always been a dream of mine. πŸ™‚

    How exciting!! I can’t wait to see how it all comes apart… and back together!
    If I had the chance, all my carpet would be gone! We finally have the entire main floors done, when we did our bedroom this past summer. But the basement is all carpet and I would love some bamboo flooring down there. Friends of ours just put cork flooring in their basement and I saw pictures, but have not seen it live in person yet.
    A house on a lake is THE dream! Can’t wait to see all the pics.

    Yeah! So happy for you and your whole family and the journey and the stories this will bring for you.

    ( I would totally rip out the carpet in my house – in time, it will happen!)

    Have a great time with this!
