My project 365 – Day 223 to 226 {one good thing}

August 15, 2016

Trying to get back into the swing of things in more ways than one. We returned home from our little last hurrah for summer getaway after extending it one extra day because it was so much fun. I’m glad we had the chance to get away for a few days and have a little vacation. Captiva Island was the perfect spot for some laid back fun and relaxation. I will share more soon. Promise!

For now, here are the last 4 days of my #onegoodthing posts.

Day 223:

day 223

We arrived in Captiva Friday afternoon after a long and rainy drive. It rained on and off all evening but not enough to tale away from this beautiful sunset. I love love love the Gulf of Mexico and the beaches on the west coast of Florida. We collected so many shells. They are everywhere. All you have to do is scoop up a handful of sand and voila, shells.

Day 224:

day 224

Saturday started bright and early since we rented a boat for the day. It was great to see the sun rise over the bay. So beautiful. We had a good day and stopped at a restaurant that’s only accessible by boat. Such a cool experience. And the food wasn’t half bad either. Later in the afternoon the girls went for a quick dip in the pool before we headed out for dinner.

Day 225:

day 225

Sunday we spent the morning shopping at a near-by outlet mall. It was a bit of a trip down memory lane for me since I worked there for a few years. After shopping we stopped at Schnapper’s Hotdogs in Sanibel. It’s a bit of an institution and we couldn’t wait to have lunch there again after finding it on a previous trip. The kids and I went kayaking when we got back to the hotel and that was fun. We saw a lot of wildlife and just as we were about to head back to the rental place by the hotel, a mama dolphin and her calf swam by. We saw so many dolphins and I’m still in awe… We ended the day with some yummy desserts for the kids and some cool beers for us at a restaurant right by the gulf.

Day 226:

day 226

Today we returned home. Back to reality. It’ll be back to work for me tomorrow and the start of a new school year. The kids don’t start until Monday so they have a few more days to relax and stay up all. night. long. 🙂 Loved that we had this beautiful sunset tonight!

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened!” ~ Dr. Seuss

A quote that showed up in my newsfeed in a timely manner. I won’t be sad that summer is over already but instead will smile because it happened and I have lots of memories to look back on…

Hope you are enjoying the last days of summer or the beginning of the school year whichever you are experiencing!!!

It was a great trip. Much needed after the craziness of the past few months. Trying to take a more laid back and less stressful approach this school year. 🙂

Looks like you indeed had a lovely summer full of memories! We are just back from our vacation too, and it seems like our sunsets were about the same level of awesome. The kids have one more week after this one and then it’s back to the daily grind of making lunches and walks to the bus stop. I think they are actually ready to be back to seeing their friends… and getting more sleep! ha.

Yes, we had a good summer overall. Lots of craziness with working camp, moving and getting the new house set up. So worth it in the end! I am happy that we are getting back into our routine and things are definitely starting to settle down. 🙂
