Daggerwing Nature Center – Earth Day 2017

May 10, 2017

There’s nothing I like more than exploring nature with my girls. Ally especially is still interested and loves to learn more about the environment around us. Ash mostly humors me but I think, somewhere beneath the teenage attitude, she likes it too. It helps when a friend comes along. 🙂

Daggerwing is one of the nature centers I always overlook as it’s not that close to home and on the small side. I’m glad we made the drive out for Earth Day to enjoy the boardwalk, lady bug and osprey release and some other Earth Day related activities.

Here are a few more photos from that day!

Ash and her friend posing on the boardwalk.

Ally posing for me on the boardwalk.

Florida Soft-shell Turtle poking its head out.

Great Blue Heron surveying his “kingdom”.

View of parts of the boardwalk from the observation tower.

Bee looking for some pollen.

Blurry Monarch Butterfly hiding in the shrubs.

Zebra wing butterfly.

Honey comb and bees in a birdhouse.

Pond apple with a small ant crawling along the bottom. (I did not notice this ant until I posted the photo to the blog.)

Hope you are enjoying your Wednesday! Half-way through the week… I’ll take it.

xoxo, Susi

These photos are absolutely stunning Susi!
We aren’t quite in shorts and t-shirts yet and I am jealous looking at these pictures!

Thanks so much. Nature photography is by far my favorite. It’s been rather nice here, not too hot yet which I’m sure is coming and you would prefer to the cold. 🙂

It’s the little things, right? Your girls have grown so much! That bee photo is stunning.

Thanks. Took me a couple tries to get something not too blurry as it was windy and the bees kept buzzing about. I’m happy how this one came out. 🙂
