Everyday Eyecandy Project 52
6/52 black & white
Have you heard that saying/quote about how January was just a trial month and February will be the real start of the year? Well, it’s pretty much how I feel, except that now we are already a week into February and I still haven’t gotten myself “organized”. Ugh. But such is life…
I decided to participate in two photo challenges/projects this year. One is a photo a day with Chantelle of Fat Mum Slim fame with daily prompts. I’ve done it before and it’s always fun to see what everyone comes up with. Her Little Moments App is really helpful and I love using it for edits as well.
Here is a collage of all my entries for January. I usually post these to Instagram with the hashtags and not the Facebook page but you can do both.
The other challenge I took on is a project 52 with weekly prompts from Everyday Eyecandy. My friend Kimberly over at All work and no play makes mommy go something something suggested it to me when I was contemplating if I should take on a photography project for the year. I really like this one so far since I always have some time to think about what I want to shoot for each prompt and the Facebook group is so inspirational and fun.
Here are the shoots I took so far for the challenge with the weekly prompt!
1/52 – You. At the beginning.
2/52 – From Above.
3/52 – Rule of thirds.
4/52 – Your Favorite.
5/52 – Yellow.
I’m hoping to start posting my weekly challenge shots for wordless Wednesday and maybe do a weekly recap of photo a day. We’ll see how it goes.
I also joined another Facebook group started by Chantelle for motivation and inspiration to feel better and get some exercise – The Good Life Gang. It’s pretty amazing to think you are connected to people all over the world striving to move more and feel better. We use the Stridekick app for the challenge and step count. I love it because you can use whatever step counter tool you want, Apple Watch (me), Fitbit, Jawbone, etc. For the month of February the goal is to walk 200,000 steps. I think I can, I think I can. 🙂
Hope all is well.
Wow, it’s been almost a month since I last posted here.
Hello, anybody out there?
The last picture I left you with for my #onegoodthing project 365 was my bare Christmas tree and I guess, after finally decorating the tree the holiday season was in full swing and I was just along for the ride… It’s been a busy but fun month. Work is work and I’ll leave it at that since I have two weeks of no alarm clock stretching out in front of me. Yay!!!
(From bottom right to top left) day 335 to day 342. December is always a time for a bit of dress up with all the holiday parties and concerts to attend and we girls enjoy it. This year, for the first time, we checked out the “Christkindlmarkt” at the American-German club near us and while it was nowhere near what an actual Christmas market in Germany is like, we still enjoyed it. I always like to say, I enjoy wallowing in my Germaness for a bit at events like this. 🙂 Middle decided to take after her brother and also start playing soccer. And the two bigs were working together in harmony preparing some guacamole as a snack. The boy is our master chopper.
(From bottom right to top left) day 343 to day 351. More soccer, watching the boy at his home games. Taking in holiday light displays before being rudely interrupted by a stomach bug that bothered little one all weekend. Boo! More holiday party fun for the adults. Loving how silly the cat is at times. And continuing on my quest to make this house a home by adding a bit here and there… the curtains really pulled the living room together. Finding homes for little critters. The last one was adopted out today and made one of middle’s friend’s super happy.
From bottom right to top left) day 352 to day 359. More holiday fun. Holiday pot luck party at our house… and I didn’t take any pics. Hello, who am I turning into? No photos, me… unheard of. 🙂 Enjoying a cruise on the in laws yacht, wrapping presents in secret, trying new recipes, enjoying sunsets and nature and treasuring special moments with family. Lots and lots to be thankful for and always happy for the reminder by looking back at these snapshots.
I hope you all are enjoying this holiday season with loved ones surrounding you and special moments shared. I know the hustle and bustle of the season can get the best of us… it definitely gets the best of me from time to time… but in the end seeing the smiles and happiness in those you love, makes it all worth it!
Sending you lots of love,

NaPhoPoMo – National Photo Posting Month, yes, it’s a thing. At least according to one of my fave blogs to follow. I remember a few people doing it last year but since I was a little late in finding them, I didn’t join in the fun. This year I decided why not, I should be able to handle posting a picture and a little background each day. I know myself well enough to know I wouldn’t be able to write an actual post for each day of November. That would be just craziness.
Anyways, for my first picture(s) I decided to share my new fall mantle and decor. I had so much fun decorating our fireplace mantle for Halloween that I was looking forward to changing it up for a more fall/Thanksgiving look. And I already have some ideas for Christmas… oh my, do I ever. But first, Fall…
I get giddy looking at our fireplace. It’s been such a dream of mine to be able to do this and I’m having a blast with it. I know to some this isn’t important. But I like making our home pretty and enjoyable for everyone. It’s homey.
A few close up shots. Aren’t the owls just the cutest. I found them at Big Lots, among other things.
Have you been to a Big Lots? I hadn’t been in a while and couldn’t believe all the things I found. Their Christmas decor is insane and I already have my eyes on a reindeer and sleigh outdoor decoration. I told the hubby earlier he better put me on a strict budget otherwise I may bankrupt us. I want all the pretty things. 🙂
Hope you are having a good week! Happy November!
