Days 292 through 284…
Lots going on as usual. Hope you are all well. Miss you. Miss blogging. So much…
Today was a good day. Any Sunday that feels like a Saturday because Monday is a day off, is a good Sunday. But today was extra good. We celebrated Rosh Hashanah with great-grandma, and Corey’s aunt and uncle. It was the first time that grandma was over at the new house and the first time we used the new dining room. Now, the house is quiet, everything is cleaned up and mostly put away and I’m sitting on our new blue couch enjoying the view and the quiet. So I decided to take a few minutes and share the latest batch of #onegoodthing Instagram pics.
Day 264: A Snapseed edit of another gorgeous sunset. I swear they just keep getting better and better. I remember, when we first found out about the house, we sat on the steps leading to the pool, and watched our first sunset and we were in awe… I’m still in awe. At the view. At nature. The fact that we get to call this place home.
Day 265: Picked up another, this time much smaller, hitch hiker. I think this little cutie lives in the hood of my car, as I’ve seen him before. He hung on for quite some time before he decided under the hood might be safer and less windy. 🙂
Day 266: It seems to be the week for lizards. I saved this tiny, little fellow from certain “death by cat” when I found him in the bathroom. Had Finn gotten to him first, I would have found him in different shape.
Day 267: See that smile? Someone was beyond happy and excited that she got to spend her birthday weekend with Mickey at World Disney World. We started the weekend off with a great dinner at the steakhouse in the hotel we stayed at (The Yacht Club) and continued on from there.
Day 268: Saturday was all about Mickey and friends and some princesses too. This was the first time little one got to spent the whole day at the Magic Kingdom and it was just us girls since the boys prefer Epcot. We had sooo much fun!!!
Day 269: Sunday morning started at Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney) and ended at home with an ice-cream birthday cake, flowers and a balloon. You can’t have a birthday without any cake, can you?
Day 272: From Mickey ears to cat ears. Getting into the Halloween spirit. She’s decided to be a cat for her school Halloween party and parade and Princess Jasmin for trick or treating on actual Halloween.
Day 273: Science fun. Sometimes, when I prep labs I get to mix fun colored motions and potions for the students. As a whole my job is pretty interesting and fun even when there often is a lot of work. But it’s good, definitely a good thing.
Day 274: Time to rid myself of those pesky grays, at least for the next 6 weeks or so before I have to do it all over again. Made to order hair color is definitely a good thing. It’s a little more expensive that what you get at the salon but it comes in the mail every 7 weeks and it’s made just for me and I can adjust it and tweak it if I so choose. I’m pretty happy with this color. It’s a little darker than I initially anticipated but I like it and the way the red tones shimmer through when light hits it. But best of all, it cover those grays really well.
Day 275: Yesterday, early morning, the furniture for our “formal” living room or the blue room as I like to call it, arrived. I love it so much and I couldn’t wait to decorate and set it it up. There are still a few things missing but I love how the house is coming together.
Day 276: L’Shana Tova. Wishing everyone who celebrates a good year! We got to celebrate with great-grandma and Corey’s aunt and uncle. It was nice to have them over, grandma for the first time and christen the new dining room. There’ll be so many firsts in this new house, our home and I’m looking forward to all of them…
Good times. Good things. All around us if we only choose to look. Hope there’s lots of good in your life too. Talk soon!!!
And here we are again. A penny short. A day late. But I’m here and so are my pics from the last week or so of my #onegoodthing IG project 365.
Day 254. A gorgeous sunset. They keep getting better and better, especially after a storm. Someone pinch me? How did I get so lucky to be able to enjoy this view every night?
Day 255. Finn was watching over me doing my school work. A marathon session it was. But worth it. Got an A on my quiz. Getting it done and working towards my goal.
Day 256. Hubby told me to come quick and grab my camera because there was a flock of Ibis in the backyard but I was more interested in this endangered wood stork who decided to grace us with his presence. So excited I managed to get a shot of him.
Day 257. Working in a school science lab is never, ever dull. Here are the new baby turtles we rescued and 2 days later another batch arrived. They are just popping up everywhere.
Day 258. Finn lounging near me on the couch. She’s happy as long as she can stretch out on one of our super soft and comfy blankets. And don’t you dare try take one away.
Day 259. Curriculum night surprises are always fun. This was Ally’s self-portrait hiding behind a list of things she likes and we had to guess who our child was. I love this so much!
Day 260. It’s that time of year again. Friday night lights. But not to watch football (okay, maybe a little). It’s all about half-time show and the dance team. So proud of how far my Ash has come. She’s pretty awesome.
Day 261. Stormy skies. Snapseed helps add a little drama and popping color.
Day 262. Could she be any more gorgeous? I just love her smile. Of course I’m super biased. She is my favorite red head after all. Posing at the furniture store. We had so much fun shopping for some more pieces together. Of course, she thinks my taste sucks. Lucky for me she already outfitted her room and this one was all mine. 🙂
Day 263. The two big kids with our my new lab pets this afternoon. Ashley and Tangier, the leopard geckos. They are pretty cool. The geckos. Well, the kids too. And yes, they are animal lovers, just like their mama.
So there you have it. Recap of the last 10 days of my #onegoodthing project 365.
Hope all is well with you! Have a fantastic week! See you in a bit.
Trying to get back into the swing of things in more ways than one. We returned home from our little last hurrah for summer getaway after extending it one extra day because it was so much fun. I’m glad we had the chance to get away for a few days and have a little vacation. Captiva Island was the perfect spot for some laid back fun and relaxation. I will share more soon. Promise!
For now, here are the last 4 days of my #onegoodthing posts.
We arrived in Captiva Friday afternoon after a long and rainy drive. It rained on and off all evening but not enough to tale away from this beautiful sunset. I love love love the Gulf of Mexico and the beaches on the west coast of Florida. We collected so many shells. They are everywhere. All you have to do is scoop up a handful of sand and voila, shells.
Saturday started bright and early since we rented a boat for the day. It was great to see the sun rise over the bay. So beautiful. We had a good day and stopped at a restaurant that’s only accessible by boat. Such a cool experience. And the food wasn’t half bad either. Later in the afternoon the girls went for a quick dip in the pool before we headed out for dinner.
Sunday we spent the morning shopping at a near-by outlet mall. It was a bit of a trip down memory lane for me since I worked there for a few years. After shopping we stopped at Schnapper’s Hotdogs in Sanibel. It’s a bit of an institution and we couldn’t wait to have lunch there again after finding it on a previous trip. The kids and I went kayaking when we got back to the hotel and that was fun. We saw a lot of wildlife and just as we were about to head back to the rental place by the hotel, a mama dolphin and her calf swam by. We saw so many dolphins and I’m still in awe… We ended the day with some yummy desserts for the kids and some cool beers for us at a restaurant right by the gulf.
Today we returned home. Back to reality. It’ll be back to work for me tomorrow and the start of a new school year. The kids don’t start until Monday so they have a few more days to relax and stay up all. night. long. 🙂 Loved that we had this beautiful sunset tonight!
“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened!” ~ Dr. Seuss
A quote that showed up in my newsfeed in a timely manner. I won’t be sad that summer is over already but instead will smile because it happened and I have lots of memories to look back on…
Hope you are enjoying the last days of summer or the beginning of the school year whichever you are experiencing!!!
So it’s been a while. About 2 weeks as a matter of fact. You know how it goes? It’s summer time. Everyone is enjoying the gorgeous weather and doing their thing. For me the last two weeks were pretty jam-packed with stuff… with life. It was the last two weeks at camp. That meant field trips, experiments (ooey-gooey messes) and clean up so the lab(s) are ready for the start of school. I go back next Tuesday. The kids go back the following Monday.
It was also the last two weeks of my 6 week summer college class. Many late nights and worrying about getting assignments done in time. I don’t know what made me think it’d be easier starting school again in the summer. This course was 14 weeks condensed into 6 and it was chock full of information. I really loved this class (global environment and society) and it reinforced my believe that this – BA in sustainability and the environment – is the right choice for me. It’s something I want to learn more about, something I can be passionate about, something that I want to share. By the way, not bragging or anything, but I finished with an A+. 🙂
Then there’s the new house. Things are starting to settle down a bit. We are starting to get comfortable and are enjoying our new surroundings. We had a house-warming party. It’s a bit of a blur to me, as there were lots of people… friends, colleagues, friends of friends and as much as I enjoyed it, I feel like I didn’t get to spend any time with anyone for long. What I remember the most, is playing tour guide and showing off the house… But it was good and I can’t wait to enjoy more time with friends in our new home. It’s truly a dream come true. As I’m writing this, the landscapers are busy in the backyard making it into a tropical oasis. I’ve always loved palm trees and now I have my very own. 🙂
Here is a slide show of my #onegoodthing IG posts from the last two weeks. Click on an image and a slide show with captions pops up. Enjoy!!!
What have you been up to lately? How’s your summer? I hope all is well in your world.
Life just keeps moving along… day by day, minute by minute.
This post has been sitting in my draft folder since last week. I added this week’s #project365 posts from Instagram as well. Hope you enjoy this little recap. I feel so blessed!
Last but not least…
Today was Sunday fun day. The pool is so alluring and none of us can ignore it for long. I worked on some chores in the morning. Took care of a few things for work and then took some time with my girls for a little fun in the sun – with lots and lots of sunscreen. Ally decided to put on a dance show for me while I was lounging and drying up for a bit…
And there you have it. The last 20 days of my project 386 recapped on the blog. I have the best intentions of doing a weekly recap but somehow it always ends up being longer.
Have a fabulous week!
