Pic Wrap #11 {Birthday Edition}

I woke up this morning a 34 year old woman. 34, it really is just a number…

I don’t feel much different than I did the night before when I went to bed.

me at 34

We started off the celebration a bit early with a nice family dinner at The Melting Pot.

We love us some fondue, especially the cheese and chocolate kind.

I even had a drink in honor of the day.

The Mangolicious was truly delicious – just the right mixture of sweet mixed with a bit of sour.

Guess, it’s kinda like me. :)

And of course, the dark chocolate fondue with a bit of Grand Marnier thrown in was decadent as always.

Definitely a family favorite.

I even got all three of my loves to sit together and pose for me.

They couldn’t refuse me and were on their best behavior. :)

Today, the actual day of the celebration of my 34 years.

We spent it on and in the water.

Little One and I stuck together on the boat that took us along the Intracoastal

to lunch at Two Georges.

It’s such an experience to pull up to a restaurant by way of boat and not car.

Our view from the back of the boat was phenomenal as it only can be on such a glorious day on the water.

Looking at the houses  mansions along the water is a sight to behold.

I do much prefer this view, unencumbered by the intrusion of humans.

After lunch it was time to get our toes a bit sandy and play in the surf.

One of us got buried under a mound of sand (no, it wasn’t me).

Some of us swam like dolphins.

And some just enjoyed the wind in our hair and the sun shining on the water.

At the end of the day, a surprise waited by the front door as we trickled in, pleasantly tired form this most perfect of days.

No house work, no cooking!

Smiles, sunshine, and chocolate cake!

(Which I don’t have a picture of because my phone had died.)

3-23 birthday flowers

Birthday flowers are the best kind and these came all the way from Germany!

In a fog… {Picture Perfect Weekly #25}

I love to share photos and I love Instagram. I was one happy little blogger when Instagram became available on Android devices. I jumped, no leaped, on that particular social media bandwagon and have developed a new love affair/addiction with it. Because of this love affair I have decided to start my very own weekly link up called… Picture Perfect Weekly!!!
I would love it if you would join me and share the treasures you captured with Instagram/phone camera/any other camera during the past week. I see a lot of fantastic, cute, funny and happy moments every day.

Share just one or many of your pictures and add a small description.

Just paste the badge into your post or sidebar and follow me… quick and simple. You can find me on Facebook, Twitter and of course, Instagram!

I look forward to seeing your treasured moments!!!

Some of you, if not most, know by now that my week has been a bit of a blur for me. I’ve been down for the count with a cold. I thought, I was getting better on Thursday but woke up feeling worse than ever on Friday. I feel like I’m in a fog and can’t seem to shake it. Ugh…

So, last night when I went to bed just before I passed out completely a thought popped into my head. “You didn’t do your Picture Perfect Weekly link up.” I promised myself to do it first thing in the morning and it faded away. Of course, this morning I woke up with cotton candy stuffed into my head and didn’t remember until I pretty much drowned my first cup of coffee.

So, here, after some delay is my week in Instagram pics…

I had animal encounters, some of the pet variety, some not. I love the shot I managed to get of the stork. Most of the wild birds around here tend to take off when I come by with my dogs. This one stayed and let me take a picture.

I joined little one one morning and painted my first watercolor painting in a long while. It was fun. I may not be very good at it but I have always enjoyed art.

No week would be complete without some shots of my girls. They don’t need any prompting and it is actually hard for me to get natural poses out of them… they see my phone or the camera and start posing for me. I do love catching their sisterly bond right now… it’s such a wonderful thing to see and often takes me back in time to my own childhood and my time with my little sister.

A few food shots also made an appearance this week. There’s the slow cooker chili I made yesterday. I had been wanting some for a few days and usually hubby makes the chili in our house. But dang it, I wanted to see if I could and felt like “cooking” even though I’m not feeling well. I also made chocolate cupcakes because little one wanted to bake. Someone stole one before I could take a pic of the whole tray!!! :) We went for Pho because it was just what the doctor ordered. It’s our replacement for chicken noodle soup!!! And I had pumpkin frozen yogurt for the first time. What a treat for my sore throat. It was delicious.

And lastly, my new “toy”. I’m over the moon about it. Love, love, love my new camera. It feels so right in my hands. In a way, I finally understand hubby’s obsession with guitars and how you need a specific one to get a specific sound/play a specific song. I can’t wait to get my hands on some new lenses… But will have to be a good girl and wait for Hanukkah Harry or Santa. And that’s okay, after all Santa has already been here!!!! :)

Now it’s your turn. What have you been up to? Do you have any picture to share?

xo, Susi

My weekend in pictures…

It’s late and I really should be in bed. Tomorrow the big kids go back to school that means I have to be out of bed by 6:30 AM. :( I was just going to post a few pictures and then head of to bed. Well, picking the shots that I liked took a little longer than I thought. I took about 200 pics this weekend, learning the ins and outs of my camera. No, it’s not new–I just didn’t realize how much it can actually do. Since I’ve started blogging I pay a lot more attention to my photos. It’s another new passion.

We had a really great weekend. Friday the five of us headed out to dinner at the Old Key Lime House which is a new favorite of ours. It’s on the water and you can even pull up by boat. Saturday after a big breakfast, hubby suggested we get in the car and check out the guitar shop he had found online. Since I’m trying to be more spontaneous and a drive sounded just fine in this glorious weather we’ve been having, I was all for it. How lucky that the guitar shop was right across the street from the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary? What a great place. They rehabilitate wild animals that are injured and work completely from donations. We bought some things at the gift shop…

After we got home hubby had to try out the new toy and I was all ready to enjoy a quiet night. That wasn’t happening. We had an impromptu get-together with our neighbors and ended up cooking surf and turf. I’m really getting into this spontaneity thing. Hope it will last throughout the year!!!

Sunday dawned sunny and bright yet again. We headed out to our usual family lunch with hubby’s grandma. After we got home the girls played with one of their friends, hubby worked on some car maintenance, and I spend time with my camera’s manual and made the girls pose for me. We finished this weekend with a home-cooked meal of chicken Alfredo made by yours truly. Oh, and I managed to beat hubby at ping-pong. I’m pretty good!!! :)
